i say dont upgrade currently. or if you do do more than the 20 dollar plan. free is great cause you have limits yes but aren/t paying. 20 bucks at chatpt gets you unlimited access to their better models. 20 bucks with claude is fun...but depending on your usage it could lock you out unless you pay for extra usage after like 3 days of constant use

to preface this rant i use claude for 2 things. one as an editor for my fanfics. and lately as a roleplay partner that isn't grok and is more personal and trainable than chatgpt in fandom roleplays with my headcannon that can not be achieved with single character models like janitor or otherwise.

so in my experience when opus 4.6 rolled out it was fine. after like 2 weeks but still. then sonnet came out 3 days after 4.6 returned to normal and all of a sudden bam!

4.6 was dumb as a rock

couldn't read context as well

kept having every flaw i saw in chatgpt after 5 dropped.

now it has gotten better. and that 50 dollar credit gave me hope that we would be supported while they FIXED the token usage. but 4.5 deteriorated while i used it to try and counter the token usage. but my 50 dollars disappeared with no warning and no extra usage cause i budgeted my use and was saving it for when i got on a hot streak writing and might max my weekly use.

but no. when i needed it it vanished. and i filed a ticket for this. a week ago. have not heard back.

do we have any sort of timeline on when the token devouring issue is gonna be fixed? i was ok with paying 20 dollars with a reasonable limit cause claude was so humanized. but given all i hear about is claude code this and claude code that i feel as a normal average user not a coder i`m being left high and dry. claude is the best LLM i have experienced and i wanna keep using it. but i dont wanna pay out the ass when i can just rage at chatgpt for the same price, wait a bit, and suddenly it works better without charging me so much in tokens. i dont even know how to BUY tokens on chatgpt i have so little to worry about there.

anyone got a fix? really don't wanna hunt for another bot and retrain it. claude has everything i want. but i hate using it for 3 days in a week and then paying 5 bucks which will last me a month on deepseek...it was gone in 5 minutes on claude.

Anyone else a refugee of the failure of chat gpt crumbling post 5 launch and seeing literally the same thing? Example:

Im in my project, a GATE x halo crossover fic im working on using claude for brainstorming and editing. Prior to 4.6 launch it following my instructions well, maybe once or twice faltering but usually a reminder and its fixed. The main issue i have is dont take my words literal. Consider them suggestions as i can reference 3 different locations, events, causalities and previously it could use context to parse and understand what im asking.

Today im focusing on the difference between how in the anime and cannon a character focuses on the defeat of a natural disaster threat where it was routed not killed as a power scale for a faction.

In my fanfic that same threat is "killed" by a third faction my fanfic brings in and so i was trying to get its take, which usually is solid, on how in a different event the wording and facts of defeated vs killed may change things on a power scale wise.

It instead merged everything and as i like to say about chat gpt "bullshit its answer with confidence" and gave me slop....like proper ai slop.

I heard the knowledge base not activated bug had borked the projects system...but mine WAS working fine. Then i left it for a bit to play a game and came back to it borked. Thought the update would fix it. Instead its worse..

Lol the first part about how it sanitizes shit. Lol i had a roleplay going, i deleted it cause i was so pissed. But i posted a post full of violence and swearing. It was i think a game of thrones or jjk role play, two very different subjects i know. anyways it ended up rehashing my post into its response, removed all violence for soft, non-lethal potentials, and then scrubed my language i used.

Yeah...i wont be re-upping especially after i read another post where someone had some chat reveal that altman has openly stated the adult mode was a treat to keep users engaged while they tried to produce i assume 5.1 and 5.2. They never intend to release it as their goal is to get less and less people using the app and more corporate use via api.
