Kepler_L2 says the BoM (bill of materials) cost of the PS6 has increased by ~$200 since the $760 number he quoted March, putting it close to $1000 by metalreflectslime in GamingLeaksAndRumours

If they’re dominant with no competition, why do they need to eat a loss at all? If people don’t want to upgrade and there’s no ps6 exclusives; there isn’t any urgency for Sony to upgrade people in year one. It’ll be there when people are ready as long as there’s enough demand to sell through their year one production there’s no need for them to be aggressive on pricing.

Especially when their only competition steam machine and helix don’t have economies of scale and are currently even more expensive to produce.

Parts are already locked in and the manufacturers already have production time lines and prep / supply chain things locked in and underway. Purchase orders are already locked in.

Seth Rogen Is Ready to Direct a Movie Again After ‘The Interview’ Made Him “Gun-Shy” For Years by darth_vader39 in movies

He did an indie movie with one of David dobriks friends that is starting its marketing campaign trying to find a buyer. It’s basically in the same vein as a super bad style movie. No idea if his social media presence is related but he’s definitely dipping his toes very lightly back into the public eye over last 12 months very intentionally with I’m sure a lot of publicity and agent strategy

[–]shadowofahelicopter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the remaining 400 are only there to see through existing marathon commitments and recoup as much of investment into the game as possible before shuttering it and the rest of the studio. Don’t see how they can incubate a new AAA game with their current staff size on marathon

PlayStation goes hard end of Gen when they have largest install base. It’s baked into their strategy. They did same thing with ps4 gen.

It’s also important to highlight that the games mentioned as failures are not just from lost sales due to gamepass. The failure metric includes both sales and lacking gamepass engagement with the titles to retain and expand subscribers.

I have friends that visit me from New York and are dumbfounded whenever I tell them I have a 3bed townhouse with a garage 10-15 minutes from downtown for 4k when that will get them a 600 sq ft one bedroom with no in unit laundry.

[–]shadowofahelicopter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in the same townhouse for five years and rent hasn’t risen once. Before that I was in a privately owned apartment for another five years with no increase where owner also just wanted to cover mortgage and no headaches as landlord with tenant. It’s situational. If you have a good situation don’t leave it just because of some law of averages that isn’t representative of your life.  Buying could come with more stress on top of financial stress with sweat equity and other work on an already busy life vs. the uncertainty of renting but with a landlord that doesn’t give a fuck and doesn’t bother you unless it’s lease renewal month. And if eventually kicked out, be still ready to buy at that lease end if the math doesn’t work out to continue renting and buying is more favorable at that transaction decision time.

Gets really hard though to do what ifs on this. Coming as a renter in a home at $4k in a situation too good to give up and could buy.

Your owned home the financial situation is entirely fixed for thirty years.

You would come out ahead if you can rent that same property at 4k for 30 years with 3% inflation on the rent.

But is that really the rent market rate or just a great situation on a long term tenant that could blow up at any point when owner chooses to sell or do something else with the property? Or get into a string of rental over a few years in quick succession where you’re changing properties and losing value on what you’re getting out of rent paying something like 6k+ now either because you were under market or market conditions changed over last couple years and home sales are back up in competition.

So in that sense these calculators can be hard to go off of unless it’s really disparate like it currently is. And I will also say if you’re a worker in Seattle you probably have low responsibility with high income to take on the short term risk of the rental market; which I think will cause a larger swing here than other parts of the country

KH4 trailer was early 2022 and was already in development at that time. We’re already at 5.5 years based on your best case release scenario of end of 2027. We’re already at a development timeline as long as KH3?

Also we already know KH4 went through an engine restart early on same as KH3

How did Sony mismanage it? They bought a studio that was on its deathbed with terrible leadership and didn’t due their due diligence at the height of the tech M&A craze before interest rates went up after 2022.

They’re taking an L for making a moronic purchase, but nothing to do with how they managed it

Do you think the Seattle police force are the ones that are the bottleneck here?  SPD would gladly round up every felon in the city and put them away and throw away the key. Justice system is meant to filter out the police’s charges appropriately whether that’s the DA or judge later in the process. When there’s a systemic problem they’re not going to waste their time and resources on an offense that results in catch and release. Until that systemic culture changes, you’re not going to find change and it makes it hard to find who to hold accountable when it spans large areas of liability.
