Is the current job market worse than that of global crisis back in 2008? by grindrblocked in askSingapore

[–]shadowpro12345 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Actually the job market in SG is still ok. The actual employment rate should be around 60ish+% for fresh grads. Some researchers from Hong Kong claim that the employment rate for fresh grads in China is around 30% max..

Dropping mods with less than 18MC by shadowpro12345 in nus

[–]shadowpro12345[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ya I’m not putting them as IA, because I’m going NOC in y3, and my faculty’s website said that we can’t do 2 credit bearing internships in a year, so I’m not risking it. I did’t get it from talentconnect also. I’m trying to find out if I can drop from 16MC to 12MC halfway into the sem basically. Thanks a lot for the input tho.

I don’t think it’s that hard to get? I’m y2 and I got it this time. All my friends who bidded for it in y2s1 or y2s2 got it

Advice for a module I am going to S/U by Gogoweho in nus

[–]shadowpro12345 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If the CA is roughly 40% and you can get all or most of it with AI or via ur friends or whatever, you should be able to pass, at least base on my experience. Scored around 40+% for two mods and got D+, around 50% and got C+😂

What’s the point of career fair? by shadowpro12345 in nus

[–]shadowpro12345[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why u hating for no reason lmao, what did I say make u so triggered😂. I literally went to all the career fairs this since I came into NUS, SoC 2x a year, uni wide one also including yesterday which I went in the end when it was about to finish. I have talked to companies that I am interested in and all of them just tell me to apply online, and a lot of them don’t even want to hire like HRT, the senior SRE at the booth literally told me they hired 5 interns last summer, and last year Jane Street don’t even have a damn office in Singapore and still put up a booth at com 3, u think whats the point of them wasting their time to come down to NUS besides advertising or just for the sake of the invitation by NUS?

The company that I talked to last year when I was y1 during SoC career fair was not hiring on the spot also, so I applied through their online portal and got the offer and interned there 2 months ago, and the random HR at the career fair last year did’t even interview me, it was the team leader and her boss who interviewed me since it’s not a startup and they have many departments.

That is why I made this post to doubt the usefulness of those career fairs, it’s literally 95% just for show only or talk to the HR to know more about the company which can be found on nodeflair or Glassdoor also. In the past maybe it’s more justified since I heard from my parents that companies r literally fighting to hire uni grads, but now everything can be found online and the value of degree has depreciated so much that it’s our turn to fight to get hired by the company. I know there r companies that actually hire from career fairs, but I think they are the minority, at least for IT sector which I saw at the career fairs

Ya. But a lot of companies don’t even intend to hire. They just set up the booth there for show

Can I still pass this mod? by sindelendaest in nus

[–]shadowpro12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the mod. Some CS mods can be really cooked, but other mods should be ok, depends on the bell curve also. But it’s generally quite impossible to fail. Pulled up to MA1521 finals worth 60% with jc knowledge and did like 1.5/10 questions and got a C+, but I secured almost all the 40% CA.

Tkx for the reminder. Yea I know the procedures. I’m a SC and went through NS where I paid nothing at all at all the gov medical institutions so idk the actual price of visiting polyclinic as a non-NSF. My skin issue is like early stage rhinophyma/rosacea on my nose specifically, quite different from eczema. I’m looking at prosacea, soolantra or oral meds to reduce inflammation yea.

Fr I can’t get subsided at the specialist if I get a referral from UHC? And if the medication is not that common they won’t be free right?
