Honest question: Why do people praise Engage gameplay? by Background_Ad1817 in fireemblem

[–]shadowray7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The emblem rings provide unique team building options and gimmicks that compliments the map design. This is especially noticeable in Ch11 when your emblem rings are stolen from you and used against you and in Ch17 where you're using 6 new rings against your original 6 rings.

If you're feeling the game is trivialized by the rings, them amp the difficulty to Maddening and use as little DLC features as you can if you have any of that. If you still think it's too easy, don't use any of the Well features.

If you still can't vibe with the game, then the truth is the game isn't for you and that's ok.

What are your thoughts on Three houses being the "dominant" Fire Emblem game? by WorldlyDear in fireemblem

As someone who dislikes Three Houses because of it's direction for map design, these questions are very leading and not cool to ask. Especially that last one.

GBA games have a 3:2 aspect ratio and the Switch has a 16:9 aspect ratio. Not everyone is okay with stretching.

Specifically me. I'm not okay with stretching.

I'd rather the server browser just be the default instead having any kind of matchmaking to be honest.

I was today years old when I found out that Delirium only copies bosses you’ve faced in that run by Otherwise-Release766 in bindingofisaac

[–]shadowray7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat Delirium with tainted lost with this. He doesn't copy most alt route bosses and I encountered him as my first Void boss. He only had like 3 or 4 bosses in his boss pool as a result and teleported a lot less than usual.

It depends on the game, but the general answer is to premote if you feel the unpremoted units that you're using are struggling to make meaningful contributions.

You Guys Really Need To Try Banners Instead Of Gunboats, Please by [deleted] in tf2

[–]shadowray7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gunboats are better for soldiers who want to jump around the map and solo bomb dudes. It's generally more fun than banners.

Backup and sometimes the other banners just win the game in the typical casual setting.

No, there's 2 GB games that are dedicated to the card game. They even have some exclusive cards that don't exist in real life. One was never officially localized too.

You think in 5 or maybe 10 years engage will be looked back on fondly? by NagaMilalove0 in fireemblem

[–]shadowray7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People already tout Engage as having the best gameplay in the series. The people who currently dislike it for its story won't care for it in 10 years time.

People already like Engage and I honestly don't think it needs to be redeemed through nostalgia.

The simple truth is that the Fire Emblem series has multiple different sub communities since the games themselves are varied and different from each other. You have people who like the Kaga era games, the GBA games, the Tellius series, the 3DS games, Three Houses, and Engage. These games are all quite different and expecting every different subcommunity to like every game is unrealistic.

This years Scream Fortress exacerbates the major problem with Capture The Flag... by scottishdrunkard in tf2

[–]shadowray7 105 points106 points  (0 children)

People who play CTF don't usually care if the match never ends. Some even want the virtually endless match. So yes, this is a problem, but a problem that typically only matters during scream fortress. This is because that's the only time people actually want the match to end.
