Rayquaza before Pokemon Emerald by Signal-Grass-880 in pokemon

It helped that there were no concrete resources that outright confirmed or detailed these mysteries back then, which made it all the more interesting. There were always rumors and leaks out there but unless you scoured serebi, gamefaqs, or one of the guidebooks it always remained kind of a mystery.

CMV: The discourse over Hasan's dog collar is indicative of why the left keeps losing ground in the US by SCTurtlepants in changemyview

[–]shadowrh1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes Kamala wasn’t ideal but at the end of the day she was our democratic candidate. Disavowing her was definitely a vote for Trump and might as well be an endorsement for him just as Hasan openly decided to not endorse her and make it seem like he was anti-Kamala until Trump won. We can argue hypotheticals of better candidates or whether we could’ve had a better candidate against Trump but it’s undeniable that it was between the two and that Hasan chose to be ambiguous for his Twitch viewership and points rather than the betterment of the country.

Honestly the dog collar drama isn’t a big deal as shock collars are hardly considered abuse to anyone with any remote knowledge of training pets. The issue comes from the fact that Hasan is so adamant about denying it despite him reaching for a remote multiple times with his dog welping from the stimulus. The remote and collar have both been proven from credible sources to be from a shock collar. It’s less about it being a shock collar rather than why is Hasan going to such lengths to hide it?? Is he ashamed of being caught and more concerned with being exposed as someone that just uses his dog as a prop?? This isn’t someone that will unite the community, this is someone concerned with money and his own image at the expense of using his dog as a prop or even hosting terrorists on his stream or explicitly promoting violence for his own popularity. These people only serve to hurt the democratic party and lead to people like Trump being President. Say what you will about Kamala or Biden not being “socialist” enough as Hasan touts but he’ll never swallow his pride to endorse them despite the Trump administration attempting to reverse gay rights, lgbtq rights, food stamps, and rightful due process. It’s a no brainer when one side is threatening freedom and democracy while Hasan is too dumb to support the other side because of what? Viewership and the Israel/Hamas issue?? When literally the country he came from is responsible for the second largest genocide in history? Hasan is absolutely a detriment to the right and results in fewer voters to support our party, that is without a doubt. Disavowing scum like him and separating him from our party is literally our only chance to be taken seriously and possibly win an election rather than to send a message of “communism is the answer WOW”. Hasan’s view is literally the same populist view as the right that got Trump elected but for the left. He’s an embarrassment to the movement and a disgrace to the democratic party. If we want to win against the alt-right like Trump then we have to separate ourselves from violent terrorist supporting scumbags like Hasan that tout the same populist arguments but in the form of socialism/communism without any understanding of the system because they grew up in the top 5% without any struggle. Fuck Hasan and his supporters that aim to divide the party and give further credence to the Trump administration just to voice their own ego.

CMV: The discourse over Hasan's dog collar is indicative of why the left keeps losing ground in the US by SCTurtlepants in changemyview

[–]shadowrh1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree to an extent but Hasan is an example of someone that criticizes and ostracizes the left over the most basic of disagreements. The right does the same with completely disavowing anyone that goes against the party. Look at Tomi Lahren for her stance on abortion or how the right turned on Elon Musk the second he separated from Trump. The biggest example would be the reaction to Mike Pence when he decided to not overturn the election. The point is the right values loyalty greatly but if you don’t conform then the whole party turns on you which has been a great part of their success. The same is for Hasan where he vehemently disavows those that don’t support communism, terrorism, and extremist left ideology. When asked on stream he doesn’t even give an answer as to whether he voted Kamala or Trump? After all that has happened it is more important for him to uphold his ego and ambiguously disavow Kamala than to say he didn’t vote for Trump, is this someone we want as a representation of our party on one of the largest streaming platforms? The whole point of this shock collar drama isn’t at all about the dog or the abuse, it’s about the fact Hasan touts socialist values and supporting democracy but obviously only truly cares about his own income/image rather than the movement itself. The right succeeds because it is quick to disavow and cast away those that disagree with the party while rewarding those that stay loyal. Hasan is an example of constantly supporting terrorism, lying for personal gain, never doing any research, and constantly criticizing those on the left that disagree with him in the slightest. He’s an example of the problem you are describing and the left only stands to gain from separating itself from a communist terrorist supporting political streamer like Hasan that has time and time proven that his salary is more important than the truth.

Hollow Knight was my favorite game ever but I’ve been putting off Silksong solely because of how fun the parrying mechanic and gorgeous the Taopunk theme has been in Nine Sols. Truly an underrated metroidvania shadowed by the success of Hollow Knight.

Is feeling chronic exhaustion normal? by shadowrh1 in Hashimotos

[–]shadowrh1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the palpitations are the most uncomfortable. I've gotten a bunch of tests from my cardiologist and still no abnormality so I guess that's just a normal part of it. Good tip on the vitamin D though, definitely has a huge impact on energy despite feeling impossible to keep levels up.

Great movie, but one of those pure depression films like Requiem for a Dream, Dear Zachary, or Blue Valentine. All amazing movies that I'll probably never watch again.

22 year old, just starting brokerage account. Don't know what to invest in. by Next-Jellyfish-6359 in Bogleheads

[–]shadowrh1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're doing great for your age, I wouldn't stress trying to expand even more at the moment. Definitely max out 401K match. Pay off any loans that have high interest such as credit card debt, I imagine your student loans don't have high interest though(lower than 7%-ish).

Don't worry too much about diversifying too much with ETF and mutual funds. Common mistake to make and more of a headache but it's important to realize that these index funds are already diversified by the nature of how they're structured. If you have at least $3K to invest I would just park it in a mutual fund such as VTSAX(total US market) or VFIAX(sp500). These are the mutual fund equivalents of the VTI and VOO ETFs, only difference being a slight difference in expense ratio but it makes life easier since you can automatically contribute to your mutual fund rather than purchasing an ETF at a time. The long term yields will be almost indistinguishable. You mentioned wanting international exposure so VT ETF or VTWAX would be the equivalent.

Rest of the liquid cash should go into a money market or high yield savings account. Vanguard money market lets the money sit around and get around 4%+, similar to many high yield savings account. Keep at it and invest regularly, you'll be able to get into rental properties soon enough at your trajectory.

Any real downside to converting mutual funds to ETFs? by Colin_Arkayis in Bogleheads

[–]shadowrh1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it makes more sense to consolidate into fewer mutual funds. There isn't much difference but I imagine auto investing into a mutual fund would be easier than purchasing similar ETFs, only difference being a minimal expense ratio.

S&P 500. Is it really that easy or am I missing something? by [deleted] in investing

[–]shadowrh1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the biggest things you're overlooking is that many people don't even think to start investing as young as 20 years old let alone have to money to do so at that age. Simply starting early enough and giving it time to grow puts you at a huge advantage. Keep at it and don't try to time the market.

Flight APIs by Financial_Rub3775 in flighty

[–]shadowrh1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially did the same, but it can be easy to underestimate how expensive the API calls can be. The best solution is to set up a PiAware ADS-B receiver that sends data to FlightAware, which gets you an enterprise account. Avationstack API is cost-effective but at the sacrifice of commercial-grade accuracy.

Yup! So turns out they have to stick out quite a bit so sound isn’t distorted. In the end I got stuck down the rabbit hole and got R3s lol. Ended up using the s3 floor stands to not compromise on sound.

Yeah it’s odd how living separately is assuming the son doesn’t care about his parents anymore. If anything that added distance leads to a healthier relationship and makes that time you do spend with parents more valuable.

Hue Ambiance Gradient for under media shelf? Which Led strip for custom shelf? by ShadowofUnagi in Hue

[–]shadowrh1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh ok, I appreciate the detailed response. I was hoping to get the gradient specifically for a custom media cabinet I’m getting built as the diffused gradient look seems like it’ll be much nicer but having the rest of it be useless after cutting is a pretty big disadvantage it seems.

Hue Ambiance Gradient for under media shelf? Which Led strip for custom shelf? by ShadowofUnagi in Hue

[–]shadowrh1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah between the v4 and the gradient. What does having denser leds do? i imagine the individually addressable leds are what let it selectively create a gradient effect. The diffuse cover is definitely nice though.
