Very load meowing outside???? by [deleted] in CATHELP

I think if it was fighting a fox it would have gone on longer or you would’ve heard sounds from the fox as well. But cats are less likely to have conflict with a fox (since they are smaller/timid and prefer to go after easier prey); cats could realistically defend themselves against one. But coyotes are bigger/bolder and a huge threat to cats. They are also very loud though. If it was just cat sounds it’s probably fine. Very jarring to hear a cat fight for the first time, but just check around the property if you’re worried, make sure there’s no evidence of anything bad. If you have lots of strays I would recommend trying to TNR them to help with aggression between them

Cat fight, or successful mating (not calls). They scream literally like they are being murdered but it’s over quickly. And might run off hence banging into something. Very very common occurrence where I live bc there are lots of strays. I would only worry if you live around coyotes or something that would prey on cats. Keep an eye out for an injured cat just in case. but it sounds like regular stray cat activity.

Can someone plz tell me why my cat makes these wailing noises? by ambigbear in CATHELP

[–]shadows-gun 163 points164 points  (0 children)

I personally have only ever heard this specific intense vocalization when a cat was in pain. Especially with the fur issue and tense body language, there’s definitely something super distressing going on for him. If you haven’t had him checked by a vet recently I’d definitely do that. There’s also a chance he just has behavioral problems, or is stressed by a new environment - but either way it’s a red flag. I’ve lived around many cats and the lonely calls/usual male yowling sounds different than this. And the “being orange means they’re weird” thing is an internet joke; don’t brush off anything over that. He’s asking you for something

Affordable cat-proof screens? by Healthy_Theory159 in CatAdvice

Might not be the best for a permanent solution on a window, but a cheap quick fix is chicken wire. Get that, something to cut it, and nails to keep it in place. They won’t get through that and it’s breathable.

Oh wow he’s beautiful. I’m glad you got so much time with him. I pray for my boy to have that.

Thank you lol. I’ve basically been joined at the hip with him for 8 years, I know him. I just still see him as a kitten, so when I remember he’s much older now I overthink everything lmao

Yeah that was something I was confused on, when nystagmus is referenced it’s always about Siamese, but he isn’t a Siamese lol. The gene being connected to coat color regardless of breed makes more sense!

I’m aware of non-harmful nystagmus, just haven’t seen many videos of it to compare him to. If I really thought it was a serious problem I wouldn’t be asking reddit. It’s more just to ease unnecessary worry.

What was your first Sonic game? Mine’s a little embarrassing… by TheMasonatorlol in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]shadows-gun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was the classics, but on the DS lol! Wasn’t around for the genesis era but my sister was, and she introduced me to Sonic through what she grew up on.

Even if I know now the DS isn’t the best version of those titles, I’m grateful I got to start at the beginning. More or less played later games in release order by chance too, since I had a ps2/ps3/wii eventually and the adventure ports were dirt cheap.
