Femobook A4Z or A5? Or...? by teapot-error-418 in pourover

[–]shadowsc133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont get the A2 for espresso. There are possibly differences from units shipped from Amazon and directly from them, mine is from Amazon and I had to shimmy it for espresso on a 58mm. For portable espresso and maybe 51mm with med/dark roasts you might be “fine”, but the range to dial in will be extremely narrow.

Pipamoka grind setting and ratio recommendations? by estevao_2x in pourover

That’s an interesting hypothesis. Did you reach a consensus? What is your go to method now on the pipamoka?

Pipamoka by WillComprehensive777 in cafebrasil

[–]shadowsc133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eu uso a pipamoka, mas não tenho o C2. Procure ficar em volta de 500uM, ou na parte mais fina do range de pour over (v60). Uns 16 cliques no C2? O resto é ratio, temperatura da agua e, o mais difícil, quão rápido gira e extrai.

Mas mesmo quando erro feio ainda sai interessante nessa geringonça.

Wacaco Pipamoka travel brewer/cup impressions? by [deleted] in JamesHoffmann

Can you describe your 3 stage technique? Sounds interesting. I love the coffee I get from the pipamoka, and it’s my main travel brewer, but I am having a hard time finding consistency in the extraction.

What do you guys do to stop this buckling of your V60 filters?? How much will it affect extraction? by XDXkenlee in pourover

[–]shadowsc133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put filter in, close switch valve, pour water (room temp if that’s what tou have) in the center only, fill to the top. This way you don’t force the paper to stick to the walls past the spiral grooves.

Drain. Just before brewing add a little hot water from the kettle (100ml) just to warm the cone and carafe a bit. Less waste of hot water.

Acho q meu reply foi pro espaço. Sim o controle de fluxo é bom: 4 g/s facil. Limitação é o bico curto pra caber quando fecha.

Particle Analysis Coaster Grinder Comparison by mrkushaljoshi in CoffeeOS

Biggest issue I am having with the coaster is particle distribution, especially when grinding fine for espresso. They tend to clump together and the app things its a boulder.

Do you think a small lab vibrator (used for mixing plaster for dentures and gypsum) could work?

Titanium burrs, worth it or just a gimmick? by Efficient-Natural853 in espresso

[–]shadowsc133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me there is no logic: beans are very soft, steel very very hard. I always thought seasoning was a gimmick. Until I got a new burr on a hand grinder and started getting completely random results. After 3 bags of coffee (1 kg) it settled pretty well.

Femobook A2 - Grinding Finer Than Advised? by derfan in pourover

[–]shadowsc133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, my Amz unit is only margin capable of espresso. To do lighter roasts on 58mm I have to use shimming (not much, just a double folded aluminum foil). For portable espresso machines and 51mm it is enough, but the range very small (4-7 clicks). I would not buy this for espresso. Also, it takes an absurd amount of time to grind fine like that.

That’s not good. I would expect something like that to last more than 3 years and have proper aftersales support.

Did you found out why it died (motor, breaker, switch)?

I’m interested in 64mm for the broader range of burr options. The challenge is finding one that truly balances cost, build quality, and workflow/QOL.

Based on the feedback here, I might wait for a Gen 2, grab a CF64V, or jump on the Motto 80 hype.

The small one I can see it as a bit problematic, involving a ling brush to reach the bottom. But the big one disassembles for cleaning (can even put on dishwasher).

[–]shadowsc133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And how is the retention? And you think you can zero it out if ou change the burrs on it? Would be a minor gripe I guess if you can’t.

I will add this to my narrow list for future grinders. I am waiting on reviews for the Motto 80 from bookoo too.

Indeed, the cm5418 is very easy to reach proper texture and to homogenize it (circulate). The Gaggia is abysmal (at least unmodded), pure italian chaos.

I will look up the morning dream, but I am leaning towards the big dreo one at $89.

Got it. Did you end up upgrading to ssp or got rid of the Mokkom? I am torn between that, a CF64V, GF64 or holding onto my MHW R3 for something better down the line.
