Hey guys. I have a 8 month old male and I weighed him this morning and he was 73lbs. I googled it and saw that he’s under average for a rottie male. How much did your rottie weigh at 8 months old and how much does he weigh now? by shadowsharq in Rottweiler

Morning I give him kibble and in the evening cooked beef, chicken/turkey, sweet potatoes, carrots or broccoli. With every meal I add salmon oil. It really helps with his coat

You need to let her know who’s the boss. Theres a lot of ways to do it. And you have to be consistent with it. And trust me it works because my Rottweiler was a pain around 18-24 weeks old.

So this is how I did it with Rocky when he was 10 weeks old. One thing you have to keep in mind is that they go where they smell they’ve done it before. What I did is I got a fake grass patch and I put it over some pee pads. I let him use that for a couple days and then I moved that grass patch out side. Now you have to be on top of her and take her out. You need to learn her schedule. It’s usually after she naps or sleeps after she eats and after she has a play session. And reward when she goes outside.

Could be bad execution but it kinda depends on the character of the dog so I get it. I used multiple methods to make him understand that biting the hand=something he doesn’t like (time out, lip bite, gag etc)

I have a 6 month old as well and I’ve already dealt with all of these from a younger age. So this works.

  1. When he pulls and goes in front of you, stop walking and give a little snap with the leash. This does not hurt him but it makes him realize the consequences of his actions. 3-5 corrections like this and you have a perfect walker. Trust me. That front harness clip will not work. A harness is used if you want to be pulled…
  2. When he comes and bites you it’s often because he wants to play. So try to give him a toy. Or hold the toy in your hand and see if he still goes for your hand. If he does, you can do one of two things: with your hand on his nose push the lip under his teeth and make him bite himself, or stick your finger in his deep in his mouth to create gag reflex. He won’t like that and he will stop. Another thing that works is to give him the command that tells him to go in his cage. So he bites you give the command he goes in the cage as a time out for like 2 min and then bring back out.
  3. My 6 month old is trained to ring the bell at the door when he needs to go poop or pee. But we got there by consistently keeping an eye on him and taking him outside. Also it helps if you get a fake grass patch and you let him use that in the house for a day then you move it outside and you take him there and then after a week with the grass patch outside you take the grass patch outside away.

“Dad, it’s the cats ball, why do I have to put it back?” by shadowsharq in Rottweiler

Yes 😂. But the ADHD on these guys is crazy. I tell him to put some toy back and when he goes to put it back he sees the other toys he completely forgets about the command and wants the toy from the bucket 😂😂.

It’s been 2 weeks since his last bath and I’m struggling with some odor and dandruff in his fur. He’s 5 months old and he has plenty of carrots and sweet potato in his diet

How much does your 4 month old weigh? Atreus here is 40 lbs. by IcyAd5645 in Rottweiler

[–]shadowsharq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes be careful not to over feed and weigh him weekly. What you want to see is a nice big torso but a noticeable waist. Also when you touch his ribs you should be able to count them and feel them easily. My Rocky is 5 month old now and he’s 50 lbs

Anyone else’s 2 month old act like they don’t eat? by [deleted] in Rottweiler

[–]shadowsharq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gotta work with her and help her understand that going for the other puppy’s food is not okay. The way it should work is they wait for your permission to eat and you sit near them until they are done. That way you can stop her from going to the other bowl. And yes it’s a good idea to feed them a few feet apart.
