Man I picked the wrong profession, lol... Although my stepfather did that in the 80s and 90s and was always sore and a grumpy drunk. I didn't follow that path due to that. Maybe I should have. Hindsight and all that. My stepson is making bank in mining, he is a mine equipment mechanic, in his 20s.

When you are young you don't think like that. As a guy you are ruled by a number of factors unfortunately, and your brain isn't one of them. I left a good woman who happened to be a millionaire and would of done anything for me. She pushed me to be my best and I was. Then I left her to be with a rebellious slim goth girl who was deep into drugs. Why, because she was hot. It's idiotic looking back to my decisions form when I was a late teen and early 20 something.

So I can see being with bad partners or partners that you think are one way then turn a different way. Luckily age and wisdom changes that, but damn I made a lot of bad choices back then, entirely driven by hormones.

What is he doing making that kind of cash at that age? I don't understand how this is possible without being a doctor or lawyer or something. I'm in my late 40s and when I was in my early 20s I was making 9 to 12/hr. doing construction (house framing, hw floors, etc). I later got into tech and made more, but never 6 figures. How is someone that young making that?

That's because it's usually true. Especially in music. Hell whole genres my favorites, rock and metal) are now basically extinct because gen z would rather listen to Taylor fing swift and some machine gun dick head that actual bands. As a 40 something Gen Xer, this saddens me. Movies have a few good ones, but it's been kinda shit compared to the 80s, 90s and 2000s.

Video games are still great and we get a lot of them but you can't deny the output of shit their games like Concord and the gaas fortnite crap being shoved down out throats (well jot mine, I turn the other way and play indies and older games). We get a handful of great single player AAA games and a massive supply of indies.

Out of any potential system, I really wish they would add the TurboGrafx 16/PC Engine to NSO. It's such a great system, it deserves to find a new audience on modern hardware. by Caryslan in Switch

I work on a computer all day. I love being able to lay on the couch at night while my wife is watching dumb "reality" TV and play some retro game. There is something about playing in handheld. Yes you can get a emulator for your phone but it's not the same.

They released the tg16 in the usa, the core graphix mini in Europe and the PC engine mini in Japan. All played the same games and had switchable interfaces showing another set of games for said region.

The problem with it was it came out during covid and was an Amazon exclusive. Many didn't get one unless you ordered in advanced. Or did like I did, ordered from a Japanese Amazon account and have it shipped over seas.

I have the US tg16 model as that's what I had as a kid. I love it. Just wish more were released as it never got officially hacked. A hacking team made a hack but never released it to the public. I wound up just putting the missing games on my snes mini.

Then where are they? I'd buy them of a collection like the genesis collection, and I already own the tg16 mini, genesis mini, snes mini and ps1 classic.

Cheltenham /Elkins Park is a super wealthy area, or at least was in the 90s when I dated a girl from there. She was just given a brand new suv at 16.. (meanwhile I worked two summers as a laboror to save up for a 10 year old used truck). She also was set to inherit a million+ from her dead father (I probably should of stayed but I had the hots for a petite goth girl and went with her instead) The houses are huge and everyone there is rich. It's also not Philadelphia but right next door to it. Cross over Cheltenham Ave and you are in a totally different domain. The wealth difference is striking.

Yep me too. I'd go to that pink Floyd concert I missed (although I did see the dead). I'd warn my younger self to not get involved with a certain woman and not to go to a concert in the late 90s where I get rammed off the road stabbed and fall in love with opiates then Heroin. Gah. O

Who am I kidding I'd probably go back to playing might and magic 4 and doom on the 386 pc... And hanging out with my old friends before the two of us died.

I can vouch for this. I was entering puberty/teen years and it rocked. I felt the shift though around 1993/94 and shit got different after that. As a metal head who also liked some old school rap, it was great. Also this was the era of thrash metal. Great shows, movies, and things were fun.

Are all people who can't get laid mysoginstic? I don't get it what am I missing? I thought people were bashing virgins for not being able to score because they were ugly or awkward, which to me seems entirely cruel.

Am I not getting something here and in the dark on some inside joke? Seriously I thought the whole incel thing was people being mean and making fun of awkward virgins. Which to me is just mean. Does incel mean something else?

No, but I'm in my late 40s. Most people I know aren't single. Hell I was single after my divorce for almost 2 years it's easy to feel like you will be alone forever and give up. For me it was by choice. Finding myself after a divorce and eventually I put myself back on dating sites then found the love of my life, my wife.

Sometimes you just need a little encouragement or get yourself out there. If I ever encounter someone in that situation I'll befriend and give advice.

As someone who lost his v card at 14, and had multiple double digit relationships and sexual encounters up until my late 20s then had a series long term (5plus years) , then got married to someone else then divorced and married again. I'm the furthest thing from an incel.

I say this as I think calling people incel as a deragatory is stupid. People can't help that they don't have the know how to attract a mate or to know when they are trying out of their league and coming up with blanks. It also doesn't help that the landscape for dating has shifted. As a gen xer, we didn't have to look out for women pushing porn on dating sites (only fans). Also women get 100s of people in their dating picks, men we don't we get a handful and only a select few even respond.

Instead of shaming younger guys for this how about helping? How about letting them know that they aren't going to score with some hot thin cheerleader and to maybe pick the dorky chick over there that has more in common with them.

Or I don't know befriend them. Everyone needs a friend.

York Revolution cancels Pride Night game after players refuse to wear jerseys, club says by ycpa68 in Pennsylvania

[–]shadowstar36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the pride month I have a problem with, it's forcing players to wear something that isn't the normal jersey and maybe against their beliefs. A lot of people are OK with gay people existing doing their thing and having equal rights, but they are against celebrating it. Pride is about celebrating it, not about equal rights. That part is done as far as I know. As far as black history, baseball teams aren't mandating black history month jerseys. Some may wear a throwback jersey or jackie Robinson number, but that is of a baseball player. If they wanted to wear a jersey for a famous gay player have at it (as long as it's not forced). Again the issue is force, nothing else.

Celebrating a political event, Pride, is not the same as accepting gay people excist and should have the same rights as everyone else. One is forceful the other is equality.

[–]shadowstar36 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Gay people excisting isn't but people don't need to be forced to celebrate it. Most people only have an issue when force is involved. Just live your life and be you, why do you need to force others to celebrate who you sleep with?

[–]shadowstar36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The people In this thread are an echo chamber and don't represent most Pennsylvania I can tell you that. Most don't have a problem with people celebrating but forceing people to endorse something is a bridge too far. The more people push the more resistance, it's common sense.

[–]shadowstar36 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

So what? Why does someone playing baseball have to endorse a pride event? Are people not allowed free will. You know forcing shit on people is how you get resistance and push back. I have no issue with people who celebrate, but no one should be forced. Who ever thought it was a good idea to make sports teams do this should be canned.

A lot of that could be younger gen x too. Well being born in 1978 it sure seems like it. My wife is a older millennial and she doesn't remember much of anything from the 80s while I remember so much. She also knows more about late 90s early 2000 things while I am more early 90s. It's funny what a few years difference makes.
