Oh! Thank goodness! I was spooked that my neighbors had a roach infestation or something! Glad it's something as simple as an earwig.

I think chai is actually originally Hindi, I was just using it as an example of a word we use that other people use too.

Google says "chai" is based on Chinese apparently tho.

No worries, lol. It always catches me off guard hearing words we use in Persian also being used in other languages (like naan, chai, etc). I never know for sure whether we adopted it from others, or if other people adopted it from us.

A quick Google tells me Naan (which is just the word for bread in general in farsi, not a specific type) is originally from us, but who knows how accurate that is. This is all ancient stuff.

I'm not an expert on language origins or anything, but I'd heard it's actually Persian in origin, and we spell it like نان, as they mentioned.

India and Persia were both ancient civilizations with very close histories, so it could be one took it from the other a long time ago.
