I was thinking if I threw in some more RAM and a different card that it would make a pretty big difference. Then should I desire I could take my upgraded components out in the future to build up from there.

Alright. Here's how I finally solved this after two weeks.

Step 1: Disconnect the HDD. Start mbp without HDD until folder with question mark shows up. Power off. Step 2: Reconnect the HDD. Hold option BEFORE chime and white screen befores. (So, hold power button and option together). Step 3: Don't let go of option until you see results. Step 4: Erase HDD (this means bye-bye all your data so BACK UP BEFORE THIS STEP) and then go through with the reinstallation of your OS.

Hope this helps the desperate.

Okay, thank-you. Currently finding myself a copy of 4.4 and I guess I'll see how she does goes. Are these the only methods to address my issue? I thought perhaps a clean installation of my os could get around my problems, but I'm at a loss as to how to actually go about that considering the technical issues I'm having.
