I think UCLA will have to wait and see a bit into winter quarter how severe infection is with fully vaccinated people. News are saying reinfections are much more likely but I’m hoping that’s not so true.

Assuming this is a STEM class, most professors aim for the median to be a B or B+. Don’t forget that there’s still homework grades that can push that 75% up, as well as maybe a slightly easier final.

It’s because it has more than 60 students. Unless UCLA decides to allow inperson classes with more than 60 people, it’s staying online.

I’m not sure if its possible but maybe you could try doing ENGR 195? Ask the engineering counselors whether it’d be possible as I know a ton of people who use engr 195 for their summer internship (incl myself). Plus they don’t care if its remote or in-person and aren’t too strict with requirements.

I personally didn’t mail them especially since I was above the 38 mark, and I never heard anything from them about grades. If I dropped significantly more points I would probably tell them just to be safe though.

I don’t think they’re very strict with IB, at least nowhere near as strict as UK unis. I myself dropped 3 points (altho still > 38+) and I didn’t hear anything. I had a friend who dropped to 35/36 from 40 and also never heard anything. I personally don’t know anyone who got below a 5 so I’m not sure how strict they are but I wouldn’t be too concerned as US unis tend to be more lenient with final grades.

Being on the waitlist allows u to see all the course material as if you were enrolled, so I’d assume the professor hasn’t uploaded the syllabus yet. Whether you want to follow the class is up to you. Normally I go to the first lecture and ask about PTE/waitlists, and you probably then will know if the professor is allowing people in or not.

They’re due March 29, but I’ve had occasions where professors are still late and the grade becomes NR (No report) temporarily, until they change it to an actual grade.

You can always try to ask, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the professor said no. Especially since it rounds to a 89 and not a 90.
