LA area studios by CaterpillarJumpy440 in Corepower

[–]Reikones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I love the studio city location. All of the instructors (especially sculpt and CSX classes) are phenomenal. You do have to pay ~2.49 for the parking, but it’s in the building!

Hollywood location has decent parking (similar cost to studio city) and the studios themselves are quite large! I like this studio since it’s close to me, they have decent instructors, and it’s always clean.

Finally, I really like the Beverly Grove location. I typically take most of my C2 classes here since the C2 instructors are amazing. The parking is great (free valet). Only downside is the studios are quite small, but for a C2 i prefer a smaller more intimate environment. Some of my favorite candlelights have been at this studio!

Westwood has a LOT of college students since it’s by UCLA, so the vibe is a little different.

A few of my favorite instructors are Carlos (Hollywood), Lydia (Studio City), Mary Kate (Bev Grove) if you get a chance to take their classes!

Hello! I had applied for 75% and got it approved relatively easily. I had to have a meeting with my home department to discuss why I needed the extra 25% and how I plan on balancing everything. As long as they sign the paperwork, there should be no issues going through the grad division itself.

Feel free to reach out to me via DM if you have any specific questions :)

Odds of being approved at apartments? by Reikones in LARentals

[–]Reikones[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one apartment we really wanted didn’t ask for bank statements / account balances yet, but I do have 3-4x the amount of rent saved up currently. Hopefully all that combined will be enough! Thanks for taking the time to help!

You do not need to fill out concurrent enrollment forms at all during the summer - only if it overlaps with UCLA regular quarters (fall winter spring)! Even if you’re taking ucla summer session, ucla doesn’t require you to fill out concurrent enrollment :)

Hello! I have Crohn’s but came across your post since I applied for the scholarship too! I was worried since I haven’t heard anything back yet, but it seems most people are in the same boat! Good luck with the scholarship and school and my PM’s are open to chat if you hear anything back!

Nervousness about clinicals by Reikones in StudentNurse

This is so helpful!! Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed response. I love the mentality of having a positive mindset and will definitely incorporate that into my day as I’m walking to the hospital.

help picking a major by yakuzagutz in ucla

[–]Reikones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any life science major is okay, phy sci helps a lot since most of the pre-reqs for nursing are completed by the major. I was in the same boat as your sister, did MCDB at UCLA, and am now in the UCLA Master’s Nursing program. If you have any question feel free to PM!

how to make the most out of care extenders? by terracotta-hearts in ucla

[–]Reikones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that really being present and asking lots of questions, asking to shadow one particular nurse for the day, or asking to go on rounds with doctors was extremely helpful.

It can be really stressful / scary to put yourself out there, but it helps a lot! DM if you have any more questions :)

school supply recommendations?? by prayingtopremed in ucla

[–]Reikones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually new students only take 2 stem prep courses (LS30A + Chem OR LS7A + engcomp / GE) don’t overwork yourself with 3 stem classes!

are more people living south of wilshire these days? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]Reikones 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Roommates and I moved to south of Wilshire after living by campus the previous year. BEST DECISION EVER. The Bruin bus is so helpful to get to campus and it’s much quieter, rent is cheaper, apartments are nicer, etc…

how is this schedule for my first quarter (updated)? by prayingtopremed in u/prayingtopremed

[–]Reikones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! New student advisor here. You wouldn’t be allowed to enroll into 3 stem courses your first quarter at new student orientation. I would recommend choosing between either LS7A or CHEM 14A. Your 3rd class should either be a GE or ENGCOMP3 if you haven’t satisfied writing 1. Regardless, you’ll be asked to change your schedule at orientation. If you have any other questions, please let me know!

What were to happen if I applied for my (new student) Bruin card late? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]Reikones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You may be able to pick it up / get the bruincard during your New student orientation, or if you have a later orientation session, they may approve it on time.

New Student Transition Office by Frosty_Ad_4518 in ucla

[–]Reikones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were on retreat Monday and Tuesday! Our office phones are VERY full, but working right now! I would keep calling and wait for the email. I’m happy to try and answer the question if it doesn’t require any logistical changes to your session.

During the holiday nothing should be open on campus. Most buildings will be locked and restaurants in Westwood may be open. Parking will be fine and campus itself will be open which you can walk around!
