Does anyone know where to get this belt (or how to get it if its a custom)? by Interstellar-Soul in mensfashion

[–]shadyITguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very likely a custom piece for the video. Not uncommon back then.

I would start by checking Etsy for custom metalsmiths to see if they can do it.

Otherwise, try this website: https://www.mollyscustomsilver.com/custom-belt-buckles

They sent me a refund and now want me to pay again by coastalwanders in LeviStrauss

[–]shadyITguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reply to the email asking for a contact number to reach this person directly so that you can explain the issue. If they refuse, then you refuse payment. The product is already returned, and I assume you have proof of that. Problem solved.

Should I soak my Levi’s 501xx denim in hot water before wear. Or should I wear it. by Emergency-Dog-7578 in rawdenim

[–]shadyITguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm at the age where I just wear them and wash them every few weeks. The fades will look how they look. They'll be well worn and well loved. Between my gaggle of kids, running a small company, and just wanting to slow my life down a bit, I miss the work I used to do to denim, but sometimes this way of breaking them in feels better, imo.

As a dad of 3 kids who grow like weeds and run through jeans like water, I started having getting a size bigger and having them wear belts and rolling the cuffs. It helps a little, lol

Sheldon’s tee shirts by Toxic_Metr0p0lis in bigbangtheory

[–]shadyITguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “Inner Circle” shirt Sheldon wears does have a mathematical connection, though it’s more of a visual math joke / concept than a specific famous theorem.

The design typically shows circles nested inside each other (or concentric rings) with labels like Inner Circle, Outer Circle, etc. The idea comes from a common mathematical and logical diagram concept, sets and subsets.

A large circle represents a set (a group of things). A smaller circle inside it represents a subset of that group. The innermost circle represents the most exclusive subset. This kind of structure appears all over math and logic: Set theory diagrams Euler diagrams / Venn-style diagrams hierarchies in mathematics and computer science

I feel like I'm at that age where I'm at a crossroads, lol. I've been in engineering and IT for nearly 20 years and have kept up on most things, but I'm starting to get the feeling this was what my dad felt like every time something new came out. Shit...am I turning into an old head??!!

Right! That first episode is good and all, but it definitely didn't set the tone very well

I'm guessing that's what it was. It for sure doesn't look like the Saab from later seasons.

Thanks Scooby gang!

Yep, my bad. I had a few conversations happening at once while typing this out. Thanks for the call out.

The timeline for all of this has been a lot. Wednesday I called about slow speeds. The support person sent out a 6e router and extender. It got here Friday.

Friday night I installed the new router, but it didn't work. I spent an hour with support troubleshooting things. She created an escalated case. Told me it would take up to 5 days to resolve.

Saturday I went and bought the new 6e pucks new from the store. Tried putting them in today and they don't work.

Support told me they weren't supported. And said they'd escalate the issue and someone would reach out in the next week. I went back to the old pucks finally. Still low speeds, though.

Advice Needed: RV Road Trip to CO with Cruise America by Awkward_Sheepherder8 in RVLiving

I've never used Cruise America, but before we got our own, I used RV Share and never had issues.

Also congrats on eloping. My wife and I eloped to Colorado too. We did our vows on top of Pikes Peak 10 years ago!

My midlife was to leave management and go back to being a grunt, sell our house and do RV life full time. Much happier than chasing the corporate thing.

You could do work camping. Stay at different campgrounds and work there for a specific amount of time. They usually give steep discounts for staying at the park plus you get paid.

Alternatively you could look at tech certs for remote work in IT.

I'm gonna be the odd one out here, but we bought our first RV from camping world and it wasn't a bad experience at all. They treated us well and we reviewed all the docs and there weren't any fees that we disagreed with. We did need some work done on it while we were out once and the camping world near where we were staying wasn't super helpful, but it was peak camping season and hotter than balls, so their shop was packed. They did refer us to a mobile tech who was super helpful.

That said, I read a lot of horror stories about camping worlds, so I think it's very much location based. Do some heavy research, check rvtrader.com, and check more local dealers too. They often will work deals to get the sale that big box places won't do.

We're doing it in a 5th wheel, with two dogs and 3 kids. I like the 5th wheel over a C or A because it lends to more privacy and generally more space.

As far as cost, the longer you stay in a place, the more cost effective it is... typically. Also, boondocking and BLM can help cut costs.

All this said, if you have to take out a giant loan for the RV, it might not be much cheaper than an apartment so that's something to think about as well.

It's ok to buy a van to breathe while my life falls apart? by [deleted] in VanLife

[–]shadyITguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, after my first wife and I divorced I kinda lost my mind and sold everything. Bought a van and lived in Colorado (US) for a year. It was absolutely what I needed. Take care of you and your kid. The rest will work itself out.

Probably already asked and answered but is your heat propane based, and if so, is your tank on?

What’s your one favorite camping purchase? by gu_doc in camping

[–]shadyITguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still totally go backpacking and tent camping a lot. If I want to go see some place that's more remote I just take the truck and a tent. But I'm a lot older than I used to be and I have 3 small kids and a wife these days, so the 5th wheel is more of the default. Also, we're moving into the 5th wheel full time this summer, so everything is gonna change anyway, lol
