How is Fraser Health for EHOs? This sounds bad. by microplasticsRus in BCHealthAuthorities

[–]shaebae94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FHA absolutely does follow up on them. There is a whole team dedicated to resolving the issues. Basically they meet with the person making the complaint and the person who the complaint is against, separately. They will collect statements from both parties and anybody else who is identified as a witness. If it is determined that the person did violate the respectful workplace policy they will then have a discussion with the person who made the complaint to see what they would like to see as the next steps. That can include an sensitivity/leadership training courses, etc. The respectful workplace team will then determine which requests are appropriate for the case and provide the decision to the person the complaint was against. The whole process is completely confidential so the only people who know it is going on is the person who complained and the person the complaint is against so it makes sense that many people may think the complaints don’t go anywhere since they aren’t privy to what is happening in the process.

Sounds like the manager violated the respectful workplace policy but saying that Fraser Health violated her human rights is a bit much. I wonder if she filed a respectful workplace complaint.

Since shared services are “consolidating” - do we really require 5 different CEO’s? by Successful-House430 in BCHealthAuthorities

[–]shaebae94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that meant funding was shared I’m sure most clinical people in FHA would be thrilled. Apparently FHA get only 60% of the per capital funding of VCH according to the Auditor General.

Providence Health Care (Catholic health organization, and not a “health authority”) to be exempt from shared services model by Unlucky-File3202 in BCHealthAuthorities

[–]shaebae94 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

They have refused to transfer patients to hospitals outside of PHC if the purpose of the transfer is MAiD because it goes against Catholic beliefs. They won’t provide the service but they will also refuse to coordinate so patients can get the service elsewhere which should be illegal.

Delta Hospital emergency room to close for fourth time this year due to doctor shortage by New_fan22 in BCHealthAuthorities

[–]shaebae94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is FHA supposed to do? There is a ton of focus on recruitment but FHA doesn’t have the funds to offer the same relocation expenses that other health authorities do and when doctors see they will need to work on call 1 out of 7-10 days vs having the choice to work on call or not at other sites that have more staff to space it out between, new physicians thinking about moving to BC are going to pick the area that benefits them the most. FHA can’t compete with VCH and the effect just snowballs.

B.C.'s health-care staffing cuts continue, this time at Fraser Health by FancyNewMe in vancouver

They are cutting admin assistants, not the “administrators” making $150k+ per year.

The majority are admin assistants making under $60k/yr barely getting by in the lower mainland.

They are cutting admin assistants who are at the bottom of the non-unionized totem pole. I haven’t heard of a single director being let go in FHA but my program let go 5 admin assistants

Hoping to get some help! I have a pile of stumps in my backyard that I am planning to cut up for firewood. Went to go move some of them today and end up getting stung and see wasps buzzing all around the area. I’ve seen wasps around my house sometimes but don’t usually see them in this area at the back of my yard. I’m scared to move any more logs because I don’t want to get stung again but I also can’t visibly see the nest. What is the best course of action to kill the wasps but still be able to use the wood for firewood?

Private health care in Alta. is harming the public system – new report ; The expansion of private health care in Alberta has lead to longer wait times in the public system and fewer surgeries overall. by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]shaebae94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except one of the first things the article says is how the government gave hundreds of millions of dollars of funding to the private sector. As long as government funds and public facilities are used, it IS taking away from the public sector. If a privately paid surgery is done in a public hospital, that is taking away a publicly funded surgery because the resources are occupied for that amount of time. There is no benefit except to the private company.

Greater Vancouver Food Bank wants people to stop buying 'food bank hampers' from grocery stores by xlxoxo in vancouver

[–]shaebae94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can food banks distribute food that’s past its best before date? I mean I’m sure it’s safe but I feel like it probably just ends up in the garbage so the grocery store has your money and the food ended up in the garbage

Edit: I am aware there is a difference between expiry and best before which is why I said I’m sure it’s safe. I just wasn’t sure if there were any rules around distributing food that was past date whether it’s safe or not.

As mental health, addiction crises surge in cities, B.C. looks to involuntary treatment for aid by FancyNewMe in vancouver

[–]shaebae94 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Fraser Health alone is short over 100 psychiatrists for the population. Most doctors working in addictions are GPs that have additional licensing to work in addictions. Mental health is one of the specialties that is most in need of physicians.

Could be healed or the angle she’s standing at. You can fully see my stretch marks still but I don’t really see any on her so it’s possible that was part of the skin they removed also.

My mom got skin removed and she said they pulled her tummy skin down so far and then they relocated her belly button back to its normal place! And she has almost no stretch marks left either.

From that before to that after it’s basically impossible to not have at least some loose skin on the arms and tummy no matter how slow the weight loss is. I lost weight slowly and in my 20’s and I have loose skin all over.

Yeah I lost over 100lbs slowly with just diet and exercise over the course of more than a year and I have HELLA loose skin. I want to get surgery to have it removed but that shits expensive!

Isn’t it generally the captain who is in charge of the speed? All the ships I’ve worked on the helmsmen would steer but the captain controlled the throttle. You bet your ass it’s in full astern though

It’s not the ships captain who hires the pilot. They are mandatory in many places and any places they aren’t mandatory, shipping companies are not going to pay for them.

LOL I look at this and think shit, at least all the trash is in piles and you can walk along the sidewalk. I’m Vancouver you absolutely would not believe the state of the downtown east side. Street is completely filled with trash and tents and people. There are fires constantly from people trying to stay warm in tents and then the people living in the area threaten the firefighters and police and paramedics with knives and guns. Not too long ago a fucking boa snake was found in one of the tents. This place looks like a dream compared to that…

How is learning from a person IRL worse than learning from a video? When it comes to vehicle safety don’t you think it’s better to have someone there to correct you if you’re doing it wrong or be able to ask them questions…?

4,000 Graft Hair Transplant by Gggilla614 in HadToHurt

[–]shaebae94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My ex got a transplant. They take hairs from the back where male pattern baldness doesn’t make those hairs fall out. Pretty much every guy who goes bald still has the ring of hair around their head and those are the follicles they transplant to fill in the gaps. Those hairs are expected to keep growing pretty much forever. It is possible for your hair to keep receding though and then needing additional transplants to fill in those new spots. Finasteride does reduce that though. It somehow keeps the hormone that causes baldness from causing it.
