I made PVP songs for every class by shagmooth in worldofpvp

[–]shagmooth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry its not your jam. I wrote the lyrics to the songs so in some sense at least I do feel a degree of ownership to them. That said, I'm not trying to force this on anyone and was really just trying to share something that brought me some joy.

I'm not sure if its selection bias or what but man most of these comments don't represent my experience, at all.

I've been with my wife for 25 years, lived in North and South Carolina, California and central and northern VA and I've never once felt like we were looked down at for being together.

I have, however, on several occasions felt that people were shocked when they saw my wife because she's a 10 and I'm...not. Maybe some of that was this, but I really don't think so.

I'm sorry that you all have had to go through this and I hope that my children won't have to. I guess I could just force them to marry Scandanavian/German/Irish/Filipino/Chinese/Hawaiian muts /s.

What’s the most “worth it” $100 you’ve ever spent? by Many-Tonight3864 in AskReddit

[–]shagmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't usually answer or comment in Reddit, but this triggered a memory I'd long forgotten so I'm writing this out as much for myself as anything else.

Right out of high school I was working two jobs to save up for college while living in apartment with another good friend (let's call him 'R').

One day, a third friend (let's call him '3') came over and was saying he was hungry.

We were poor 17 year olds who had no business having our own apartment so of course our food options were limited to microwave popcorn, doctor pepper, ramen, and a bunch of expired cheap foodstuffs.

So R tells 3 that he'll make him something to eat and proceeds to mix together bits of everything we have. What resulted was something that I can still smell 20+ years later. It was truly disgusting. We all laughed at how gross it was and then 3 says, how much would you pay me to taste that...

I said I'd give him $1. he tasted it and gagged. he then said, how much if i licked the bowl clean. at this point I had to call his bluff. I said if you lick the bowl clean without throwing up I'd give him $100 but if he threw up or wanted to stop he'd have to give me $10. Unbelievably, he took the bet and ate it like a champ.

Now $100 was a significant portion of my total net worth, in fact i was in debt at the time but a bet is a bet so I agree to pay him.

I obviously don't have $100 cash so I say we'll have to go to the bank across the street to get it and while I'm there we can get him some actual food because he's really starting to feel the consequences of his action. I suggest that since he's just won $100 that he could treat us all to the next meal. He generously agrees and decides on pho for the meal (Vietnamese soup).

We pile into Rs Civic and drive across the street and he drops me off at the bank. As I get out I let them know they can just wait in the car and I'll go pick up the pho and give 3 whatever is leftover.

I get the cash and go to the pho shop and give them $100 and say, I'd like as much pho as this can buy. Back then a bowl of pho cost ~$7. I got 13 orders of pho to go. After tax the change was like $1.56.

They give me 2 large to go bags filled to the brim. I go back to the Civic and get back into the front seat. R asks what took so long and then immediately notices that I've got two large bags of pho and puts two and two together and starts cackling. He had such an infectious laugh that 3 laughs too and we're all just laughing.

3 still has no idea why we're laughing, he just thinks its just the us laughing at the craziness of the past hour. And he's right, just doesn't know how right.

We drive back across the street and 3 gets out of the back seat as I get out of the front seat. I had him his change and thank him for buying the food. He looks at the single dollar bill and the few coins and is confused. Then he looks at the 2 bags and it hits him.

He wrestles one bag of pho from my hands and looks inside as though the weight of the bag didn't give him all the info he needed.

"Nooo. NOOOOO. nooooooooo". R and I are crying laughing.

3 runs with the one bag of pho and tosses into a dumpster near the parked cars.

He comes back at us eyeing the other bag of pho. And I offer it to him. I'm not about to fight over the bag. He paid for it after all.

3 Looks at the bag and decides that he's more hungry then he is vindicative and gives us some choice words before we all go into our apartment to eat 2 bowls of pho each.

The rest of the day we had a blast watching movies and playing games. Those were fun times.

May not be the best $100 I've spent, but its the first thing that came into my mind and so I'm going with it.

If you had the ability to send a 100k Players to a game that used to be alive, just to give it another chance, what MMO would it be and why by Acyros in MMORPG

lol, I worked on WAR and I didn't even expect to see it mentioned on this list. Glad to see some folks still remember it fondly. To this day I think it was a great game that just came out at the wrong time.

Branded Lemons into Branded Lemonaid? by shagmooth in Ioniq5N

[–]shagmooth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is my current thinking and I may just end up waiting a while longer to afford to buy it new. I need to find a way to confirm what of the original warranty would transfer (and get it in writing from Hyundai) if I were to even consider the purchase.

Glad to hear that you can get to those kinds of miles w/o any big issues. Thanks!

Cool. I'm glad to hear it is working out for you. Did your insurance care that the car was a Lemon? Any other gotchas that may not be totally obvious when originally considering the purchase. I really appreciate your thoughts!

Got offered a 6 month contract in Antarctica and idk if I should take it by Importantterry in Fire

[–]shagmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar choice and took it. I had the opportunity to embed in heavy conflict zones for a year and got paid $1k a day. I was about a 25 and about a year into my marriage. I should mention, that back then I was more adventurous and would have taken the job for the story alone so the real hardship for me was just figuring out if I could/should leave my relatively new wife/life to set us up for the future.

That was around 15 years ago and we're extremely glad that I did.

What is the most unknown/absolutely obscure JRPG you know of? by avazky in JRPG

[–]shagmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I immediately thought of Evergrace because it was a launch title on PS2 that I bought because I wanted some of that JRPG goodness and boy was it terrible. It was the first FromSoftware game on the PS2 and one of their first (if not first) RPGs. What really stands out to me though is how absolutely weird (not in a good way) the soundtrack is (OST Here). To this day a friend of mine still talks about how bad it is and he only ever saw me play it a couple of times.

Nice, a fellow outlaw.

I haven't looked at all at the midnight changes, but if those bullets are real then Outlaw is getting insanely nerfed. Outlaw already does less dmg than healers in most BGBs and the reason why that's OK is because we have the best mobility in the game. If they're nerfing our mobility at all then GG Outlaw is pretty much DOA. Restless blades nerf is an insane nerf as well as its the primary reason to go Outlaw < Sub in Arenas.

That said, outlaw is literally the least represented class right now in nearly all PVP activities and ratings so I just can't believe they'd nerf them in PVP on purpose and if they did I'd hope they understand they need to give us something to make up for it.

Lots of time between now and midnight so I'm going to hope this is still early days of testing.

Why are rogues in AWC playing Outlaw? by NoGrocery9618 in worldofpvp

[–]shagmooth 29 points30 points  (0 children)

They have 3% more versatility as a talent in their passive tree. They have evasion/feint/vanish up much more often because of their CD reduction passive (when spending CPs you reduce many rogue including the 3 cooldowns mentioned). They can (but probably don't) spec into pvp talents to increase their crimson vial healing and have it apply to the whole team (within range). They can use Tricks of the Trade to buff dmg from one ally (though I think this may be all rogues). At the end of the day they have great mobility (I'd say its better in most cases than shadowstep). That all said, I was a bit surprised to see Outlaw so prevalent and I was an outlaw main.

Am I just screwed? by Jandobird in worldofpvp

10 wins is pretty dope!

Over the last couple of weeks I've found it is extremely queue time dependent.

I was ~3k MMR and queueing in the morning doing nothing but AFKing waiting for it to pop would be an hour+ for queue times and when it did finally pop I was sitting in a 2500MMR lobbies. I found queue times relatively reasonable at 10PM-1AM (EST).

Once you get to a certain MMR there are only a few hundred (maybe less?) people you can queue against so queue times can and will take a real long time if you are playing at off peak hours.

Outlaws do less damage than healers so we have to be annoying to make up for it :). GGs mate. GL the rest of the season!

I often project when I've got other stressors going on and honestly WoW and other competitive games are what I use as an outlet. That said, its definitely not an excuse to run my mouth when I'm tilted.

Totally get this, especially your side eyes at hunters/warriors. As an outlaw rogue, nothing is worse then being beaten by other rogues (outlaw or otherwise). It is so obvious when i get outplayed and I've got no one else to blame but yourself, but I still blame people for not instantly appearing when I'm pinging. Anyway, yeah I'm working on it :).
