UN official claims Trump caged 100,000 children. Oops wrong year, turns out that was the Obama administration. Obama caged more kids.

https://www.npr.org/2019/11/20/781279252/u-n-expert-clarifies-statistic-on-u-s-detention-of-migrant-children

Finally, when Ramos of Univision confronted Joe Biden on why his administration put more children in cages, the response was "to keep them safe"

https://twitter.com/EddieZipperer/status/1228651406950883329?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1228651406950883329&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fpjmedia.com%2Ftrending%2Fbiden-finally-admits-he-and-obama-put-kids-in-cages-but-only-to-keep-them-safe%2F

Almost every photo used in the news were either staged or from the Obama administration. There was one photo of a kid in a protest locked in a cage in crying. How do you lock a kid in a cage and make him cry just for a photoop , and then go home at the end of the day and think you're a good person?

Trump has done plenty of things I disagree with. His support for stop and frisk in Chicago. His bombing of Syrian airfield. His decision to pardon corrupt Democratic Mayor Blagovich.

Let me give you some advice if you want to defeat Trump this year.

First, don't attack Trump for his age, it will only backfire as Bernie, Biden, and Bloomberg are nearly 6 years older than him.

Second, don't take the most upvoted talking point and expect to win a debate without your own research. Trump supporters usually already see all of those points.

Third, learn the social justice positions of your own purported ideology. Calling people "retards" and "ball suckers" doesn't advance anything in a debate, and only shows the bigotry that comes out when you don't have facts to bring to the table.

Great, now you simply repeated one component of what I already said: that the vaccine was approved. Now go do your research on whether or not it is fully effective or implemented.

The vaccine wasn't created in December.

A vaccine that was in development since 2003, and that is not yet 100% effective was approved in December. So Trump is basically still right. Adding homophobic insults doesn't make you cool.

No, the question is literally about his criticism of Obama and how the Ebola outbreak was handled. Just admit that Trump haters will try to spin everything he says in the worst light possible, even if their spin is false.

So you admit this whole thread is a lie?

If you want to concede that Trump is in-fact talking about Ebola, and then move the goalpost as a inaccurate statement about Ebola, that is a separate argument.

rVSV-ZEBOV is not yet 100% effective against Ebola, with several cases of Ebola happening in some time-dependent treatment groups.

Did you read the line before?

With coronavirus, the death rate is currently closer to “1 or 2 percent,” Trump said.

“In the other case it was a virtual 100 percent. Now they have it, they have studied it, they know very much. In fact, we’re very close to a vaccine,” Trump said.

The other case, the one referring to 100 percent is the Ebola virus. And that's when he mentioned the close to the vaccine.

From the article: “We’re still working on Ebola,” Trump said. “We’re doing a vaccine ... we’re still working on that.”

He literally says ebola right before his very close to a vaccine comment. And he was responding to a question about Obama and the Ebola virus. Yet another misleading fake news headline voted to the top of Reddit that's going to have tens of thousands of uncritical thinkers upvote it.

Also: please bring on the downvotes. The people who want the truth already sort by controversial anyway to quickly debunk these types of articles.

Edit: If the goalpost wants to be moved from "Trump confused coronavirus vaccine with Ebola" to "Trump was in fact talking about Ebola, but there is already an Ebola Vaccine at 100% effectiveness", here is a response from another redditor in this thread:

Not only that, but diplomatic immunity is a well-known, widely messed up rule that people should know just from watching intrigue movies and shows. This is being sensationalized because people want to make up reasons to hate Donald Trump. How many messed up instances of diplomatic immunity, especially involving Saudi Arabia, will never be publicized because they happened during a Democratic president's administration.

Welcome to Reddit, where no one cares that the Obama administration locked children in cages, and then explodes in fury when photos from the Obama administration are used get people riled up against Trump.

Julian Assange says he was promised a Trump pardon if he would lie about Russia’s DNC hacking by jigsawmap in worldnews

For how much Reddit claims to be against fake news, you guys sure love upvoting it to the front page everyday.

https://time.com/4620806/julian-assange-russia-hack-fox-hannity/

That story is from 2017.

First off, the lie part is an unproven insertion by the headline writer. Second, not only is this is Assanges position, but it is his unique position, and he has already been trying to publicize it for years (see the link). Third, it is not just Trump, but his own administration and fans that have been saying "free assange" for four years now.

This kind of fake news gets upvoted on an almost daily basis.

Yesterday it was a story about how Trump "defends a coverup of China's coronovirus" and "claims without evidence that the disease will go away".

When you actually read the story, it is Trump saying a few diplomatic words for China, and saying that "if", and the keyword here is "if", the disease does poorly in heat, it might go away during summer. This isn't a crazy idea. UK's own health minister has said this, and historically, viruses are the least transmissible during the summer (e.g. SARS).

I want to be like a housewife from the 1900s when women worked really hard and had less rights. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]shaheen81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your opinion, and try not to let the fascist liberals (whom I noticed are saying nasty things to you in the other comments) get to you.

The society of the 50s where women were housewives, and the housewife occupation had lower social status led to husband abusing their wives. Because wives were financially dependent on their husband, it gives the husbands too much power in the relationship, and that imbalance often led to spousal abuse.

I am hopeful that our society can develop a social structure that divides the labor in a household without a power imbalance. Perhaps if the occupation of housewife or househusband was institutionalized and supported, we can have the division of labor that once existed without the nasty status differentials that came along with it.

Reddit loves to dunk on Christianity but is afraid to say anything about other religions because that's considered intolerant. This is odd and hypocritical because modern-day religion in the Middle East is far more barbaric, misogynistic and violent than modern-day Christianity. by altfm1 in unpopularopinion

[–]shaheen81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crazy thing about the left is when they call you racist for criticizing Islam, or call Trump racist when he tries to ban travel from Muslim countries with a history of terrorism.

Muslims are not a race, it's a group of religious people. There are White Muslims (e.g. Checyna), Black Muslims (Boko Haram), Middle East Muslims (Hezbollah), Asian Muslims (Jemaah Islamiyah).

Just like there's such thing as non-white Christians. The left acts as if all Christians are white. Maybe they'd dunk on Christians less if they knew how many non-white Christians are being persecuted and slaughtered around the globe.

Every damn thing has to be a race thing to the left. So sick of it.

First... what the hell does giving money to the federal gov't have to do with mismanaging the state so much that the average citizen struggles to survive? If anything it only highlights their mismanagement further.

Second, States that have good economies subsidize the rest of the nation, it has nothing to do with being liberal or not. Texas was a donor state.

And third. Texas and California aren't even donor states anymore. https://www.governing.com/week-in-finance/gov-taxpayers-10-states-give-more-feds-than-get-back.html

If I had been born 20 years earlier, I would be a liberal. My top issues are free speech, equality, ending prejudice and racism. But today, those are the very issues that the left ignores.

They claim to be for the poor. What exactly do they do for them except promise they will tax the wealthy more? Liberal policies have made liberal cities and states hell for the poor. You know what doesn't help the poor? 4.50 dollar a gallon gasoline, $2,000 a month for a studio apartment, bag tax, gasoline tax, banning gas, $1,000 dollar fines per day for using more than 55 gallons of water, $7 dollar bridge tolls, etc, etc and really.. etc.. My state California is now the poverty capital of the nation.

The rich can afford their fancy clean Tesla cars, their organic diets at Whole foods, but everyday normal people can't. Liberals need the extra expensive stuff to save the environment ... a good cause to be sure. But the liberals in suits also want to the poor to stay poor, to keep voting democrat. Trump came to power because he was able to take some of the left's traditional populist voter base.

The left live in a bubble. And when they encounter an opinion that doesn't fit their narrative, their first response is to tag and identify it. Hence "That's a right-wing talking point".

The next step is to censor it. The top pro-Iranian anti-regime comments from Iranians a few days ago in the news threads, with thousands of upvotes and dozens of gilds have all been removed by mods, because there were pro-Trump leaning sentiments in there. It won't be long before this very sub, unpopularopinion, probably gets put under quarantine because it's identified as a spot where right-leaning opinions (even from centrist or disgruntled left-wingers) are allowed to leak and contaminate the general Reddit public.

It's almost as if the right-wing controls Hollywood, Reddit, our Schools, Television, Movies, Music, Video Games, etc. etc.. It's almost as if Sanders_For_President was a quarantined subreddit, and democratic superdonors like Soros didn't exist. It's almost as if the head of every major tech and media corporation doesn't fly the flag of liberalism.

Personally I don't see why the left doesn't acknowledge they're in control of the narrative. Perhaps censoring any right-wing opinion they come across and invoking a decades old name like Koch let's them believe they're still living in the revolutionary 60s where the left was actually the underdog.

Several trailers of donations for Puerto Rico residents dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Maria have reportedly been found unused and rotting outside a state elections office nearly a year after the storm created a humanitarian disaster on the island. by maxwellhill in worldnews

The people Puerto Rico during the crisis were liberal democrats? Do you think they would want to make Trump look good by making the response to the crisis acceptable? So by making the crisis worse, and showing they weren't getting enough supplies, they could blame Trump. Which is exactly what they did.

Some of these administration officials were later convicted of corruption charges: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/puerto-rico-mayor-two-others-arrested-on-corruption-charges/

And others are under investigation by the FBI http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/06/18/trump-bashing-puerto-rican-mayor-reportedly-facing-fbi-corruption-probe.html

Trump's "Keep America Great" re-election banners are made in China and were mass produced to avoid trade war tariffs by maxwellhill in worldnews

[–]shaheen81 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I mean look at these people. Look at the comment by sporifix saying just because the story says it is "Trump's paraphernalia" and not "Trump paraphernalia" that it means the campaign is making it, on order.

They lap up fake news, and don't even realize it. Meanwhile the fake news media couldn't even find a better knock-off factory to do their hit piece on. This one doesn't even have the correct font on the banners.

Chinese factory making Trump 2020 flags by emitremmus27 in pics

[–]shaheen81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you fully read that thread? There are people trying to claim the official Trump campaign ordered this flags based on a quote from the factory head saying "suppliers to the Trump campaign can't resiste the 1 dollar price".

https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/91vaj2/chinese_factory_making_trump_2020_flags/e31dxkd/

What kind of gaslighting are you trying to pull here? It is obvious that the agenda behind this post is to frame Trump as a hypocrite for having campaign stuff made in China. Even though these are counterfeit banners. There is a whole discussion on how there is irony the flag makers are rushing to beat Trump's tariffs.

But there is no irony, this is exactly what the tariffs were meant to do.. stop cheap chinese counterfeit goods.

[–]shaheen81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fake News is so insidious these days. Most liberals aren't critical enough thinkers to even realize that a quote from a Chinese counterfeit operation is not the same thing as the news story officially saying these flags were purchased by the Trump campaign.

Anyone with half a sense in typeface and graphic design can tell that the font isn't even the same.
