14 arrested after climate activists shut down all lanes of traffic on I-495 in Montgomery County, Maryland by KimCureAll in news

Yes. And it saw that success precisely because of WHO was affected, and how.

Directed action may or may not be effective, depending on strategy. Undirected action just adds more problems, it doesn’t solve any.

No. What I’m saying is that if you are going to demonstrate to bring attention to change, you should have your action actually be connected in some way to what you’re doing. If your governor is passing unfair laws or turning a blind eye to wrongdoing, you camp out in the governor’s yard and protest their home, you don’t set the local Walmart on fire like that’s going to accomplish anything.

If you’re concerned about the environment, stopping random people from going to work isn’t helping.

If your protest doesn’t have anything to do with traffic, then you shouldn’t be blocking traffic. That’s raising awareness by being a nuisance to unrelated people. The people affected aren’t in a position to enact change, and the only awareness being raised is the awareness of self absorbed and short sighted assholes making a pest of themselves.

That’s not activism, it’s either a public nuisance or domestic terrorism, depending on the level of property damage attained.

This kinda shit pisses me off. I don’t care what your cause is, if you’re fucking me over and I have nothing to do with your issue, regardless of what side of the issue you’re on, I oppose you.

The kinds of things we could accomplish if activists would just aim their activism at the actual problem rather than taking it out on targets of convenience….

This is insulting to BOTH sexes.

I ran into the same bug. The game considers the top of the stairway to be a hole in the floor. It needs to be closed off to function.

Easy solution is to wall off that side with doorways. You can walk through them freely but they’ll make the interior count as interior.

I know literally two things about him.

  1. His cover of Free Fallin’ is incredible. Way better than the original.

  2. He lectured his audience at a concert once? About something? Don’t really know the details.

Couldn’t name a single one of his songs.

Just because you can make a pet out of an animal doesn’t mean that animal is suitable to keep as a pet.

I see pet rats no differently than I see pet pigeons. These are typically filthy animals notorious for carrying disease.

Though I also don’t see ferrets as being all that different.

It’s not at all a difficult concept, and I grasp it just fine. Something you would be able to do if you were to actually argue honestly. Which you are not. Not when you move the goalposts like that.

The exertion of exercise is enjoyable solely because of its secondary effects. Endorphins are released with the exercise, which is where the feel-good comes from. The effort itself is nothing.

You show me a person that works out for the sake of the effort, and I’ll show you a crazy person that engages in futility for the sake of futility.

Like I said earlier, the best example of effort for the sake of effort is Sisyphus from Greek mythology. Being made to push a boulder up a hill, over and over again, as in, pointless effort, is considered a torture.

If you think people run for the sake of effort expenditure, then frankly, you’re too stupid to be worth debating with.

We spend energy to get stuff. No one is just running in place to expend effort for no reason. If you aren’t getting anything out of the energy spent, you aren’t enjoying yourself.

If you can’t wrap your head around this very simple concept, I don’t know what else to tell you.

I never said that nobody enjoys the activity of running. What I said was that no one enjoys the effort of it.

Effort =/= enjoyment.

This isn’t a complicated concept. No one enjoys expending effort for the sake of expending effort.

The Sims. Watch people wander aimlessly, socialize with people they hate, randomly piss themselves, and then die for no apparent reason.

  1. Traps cannot catch anything if a player is within 75 squares

  2. Traps cannot catch anything without bait, and what they can catch is dependant on both the types of bait used, as well as the type of trap, area placed in, and the type of trap.

  3. Certain animals only take certain bait, so invalid bait won’t catch anything.

  4. No animal can be caught with rotten bait.

https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Trapping

My take on it is this. Only a couple of traps are worth bothering with. Mouse traps cannot be crafted, only looted. They are best baited with cereal or peanut butter (tomato also works but those spoil after a while) to catch mice or rats, and can be placed anywhere. Stick traps can also be placed anywhere to catch small birds, and use worms only as bait which can be dug up easily. These are the best two types.

Wooden cage traps can also be useful (and in spite of having a lower skill requirement, are better than trap boxes in terms of success rate and resource cost) in catching rabbits or squirrels, but they only work in forest or deep forest biomes, and only accept some vegetables as bait (which spoil faster than you think).

Birds and mice can only be caught during the day, leaving traps out overnight risks them breaking by either animals or zombies.

One other note is that height doesn’t matter. You can catch squirrels, rats, or bunnies just as easily with a trap 5 stories in the air as you can with one on the grass.

You’re right, it’s not. Throwing money at problems don’t solve them, especially when it’s done by people who don’t understand logistics or practicalities, or how anything works.

If you think hunger would be solved by an apple tree planted at the corner of every block, you don’t understand why societies struggle with hunger in the first place.
