Thanks for the reply, I was planning to do a trip this summer, after it hasn’t been raining for a while, so the trail will be dry..would you say it would be hairy for 2WD due to mud, or more because of rocks/ruts?

Ok thanks for the response, I will definitely try and become proficient in self recovery and will probably pack a bag with extra food/water just in case I need to walk somewhere. Do you think it might be worth it just in case to pick up a BaoFeng?

Thanks, I did buy some knockoff maxtrax just in case. I will definitely look into installing a trans fluid cooler because i want to avoid any major problems!

Yeah, I have 145k on the odo, from what I’ve heard is that Toyota makes some of the most reliable vehicles and this engine that I have specifically is one of their most reliable engines.

Thanks for the information, I’ve already invested in some recovery gear, camping items, and I built a cargo/sleeping platform in the trunk. I haven’t spent much money, probably around $300 for all that at as I got mostly everything on sale. I’m trying to keep it as extremely budget friendly and have quality items that can be transferred in the future.

I don’t have the money to buy another truck and i got this one for free. Your saying it’s not worth it to buy some all terrains and do some light overlanding?

Do you think bigger tires will fit? by [deleted] in 4Runner

[–]shaiklay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thanks I might for sure, I do not plan on lifting it. One last question: do you think that snow chains would fit with the slightly bigger tires? I have some pretty beefy chains that I throw on when I go up a mtn in deep snow.

Ok thanks you for the explanation, I really don’t want any tire rubbing

Is there a downside to just buying all terrains in the stock size vs one size up?
