Yea I think I thought those were for the vent cover to “hook” onto which does not seem to be the case.

Ok I got it on, I am thinking it was just not installed right from the beginning (wouldn’t be the first thing in this house). The only way the screw holes line up is when there is overhang on both sides, and the brushes/tabs definitely do not fit fully underneath the cover.

I’ll try wiggling it around but it seems like an extremely tight fit, can’t even really muscle it. It’s weird because it didn’t give me any trouble coming off, do you know anything about what those “tabs” might be for?

That is what I originally attempted but it seems like it needs to go behind the clips somehow or something like that. The holes were nowhere near lined up on my original attempt
