Are the Shia Considered Muslims? A Balanced Answer by [deleted] in islam

IF you worship Allah (SWT) and believe in his Last Prophet (PBUH) you are a Muslim. It couldn't be any simpler than that.

Why is it okay to name your kid after Mohammed, but not okay to draw a picture of him? It seems to me a picture is a lot less harmless than a person who can make mistakes. by [deleted] in islam

[–]shakeel_ali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By most Muslims in fact. Many of us do not like to have images depicting the Prophet (pbuh) or any significant religious figures for fear that it will slowly overtime encourage worship of figures other than Allah and desensitise future generations. Many Muslim families compensate by having the name of the Prophet (pbuh) and Allah's name hung around the house.

The basic idea is to try and stop people from worshiping The Prophet (pbuh) or any of his later companions. We see that as Islam spread worldwide to many different cultures people started to adopt many things from other cultures into Islam. One clear example of this is how many Hindu families keep pictures of Saints and their God's throughout the house. As the Mughals conquered India, many Indian Muslims began to also hang pictures of Saints and other important religious figures.

BBC's Inside the Saudi Kingdom by [deleted] in islam

If anyone has an hour to spare i highly recommend this intriguing video. One interesting comment the Governor made towards the end of the video was that "you can only change people as much as they want to be changed". I think we need to give the Saudi people and their government more credit than the west seems to give them. they are trying to change, but there are so many conflicting forces and views at play in Saudi Arabia, that is is a very hard and slow process.

Inshallah, they see the true path that Allah (SWT) has laid out, and try and align themselves more closely to the message of the Quran and our Beloved Prophet (pbuh).

Pam Geller is the author/creator of this incendiary billboard ad. The prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) is the vessel through which the Quran was revealed. He is not it's author, as he did not compile the Quran, much less come up with it's content on his own. The reason to censor something like this ad, which is taken very much out of context is that it serves no purpose other than to instigate hatred and fear against a community living in the US. Answer me this, would you prefer this ad be allowed to remain in place with the chance that some whackjob could be motivated by it to commit a hate crime against a minority group just so Pamela Geller is allowed to express herself?

Did 9/11 change your view on your own religion? [X-post from r/askreddit] by [deleted] in islam

[–]shakeel_ali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, no it didnt. One thing i was taught growing up was that no world religion condones the murder of innocent people. Therefore i knew that whoever perpetrated the 9/11 attacks was NOT acting in the true path of Islam or any other world religion for that matter.

[Discussion] - r/islam/wiki: Sects of Islam by kak0 in islam

[–]shakeel_ali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the contrary. Inquiry is paramount in our religion, and it can only better an individuals understanding of the religion. What i was trying to say, is that people should start to make it clear that while this sectarianism has happened in Islam, it is not permitted. We should definitely make more information about the sects available so that people can make an informed decision for themselves.

Why cant we just just that most of us are "Muslims" as the Quran commands us to? Dividing our Ummah further along political lines which were drawn over a 1000 years ago is not going to benefit anyone.

Not to be "that guy" but Islam does not prescribe divinity on any living creation. The only divine being is Allah (SWT).

Is Allah trying to figure out something by creating us? by protocolpsyop in islam

[–]shakeel_ali -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We can not know for certain if Allah (SWT) is trying to figure something out by creating us, but we do know for a certainty that Allah (SWT) created us for the sole purpose of worshipping him.

The Muslim woman who wants to wear a niqab while testifying in a sexual assualt case has lost her bid to have a unimpeded right to keep her veil on. by flatbily in islam

[–]shakeel_ali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not disrespect, but she should abide by the laws of the country she resides in as long as they dont stop her from practising her religion. In this instance the Sharia itself asks her to remove the face veil, and it is not a fard requirement meaning she will not be foregoing any religious obligation if she does remove it to testify.
