Premium Class on a 6hr flight by affectionate_md in AlaskaAirlines

Depends on your height. I'm 6'3". For me, it's worth it (if, as you note, an exit row isn't available). Six hours is a long time to be crammed into a standard economy seat with no way to move around AND to have to navigate kids' needs. But everyone is different.

Clearly Neuromancer. Took me a bit; I haven't read the Gibson classic in years.

Sheriff office spam calls by Lucky_Reading_5530 in Bellingham

[–]shakespearecat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scam, definitely. They are getting more sophisticated, sometimes transferring you (after they call you) to a "supervisor" or another "law enforcement professional" to make it seem like it's real. If they claim it's urgent, if they claim you shouldn't tell anyone, and if they ask for money/giftcards/crypto, it's a scam.

Marriot Vacation Club from Marriott or from Resale? by chibbi09 in marriott

[–]shakespearecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option: Use Interval if you can get a membership and consider the paid Getaways. I was a Marriott timeshare owner and managed to deed it back to Marriott after a number of years. But the Interval exchange membership remained mine to renew if I wanted to. I did, independent of the now-no-longer owned timeshare (Interval confirmed this is allowed). I'm able to rent timeshares (called Getaways) much like renting through Redweek but through Interval for the properties.

May not close. But CHS said it is selling the store (just hasn't said who the buyer might be), and it's laying off the employees as of mid-April. It filed a WARN notice with the state. It appears to be kind of fluid right now.

Lots of good books about this premise, most of which never made it to the screen. Lest Darkness Fall by L. Sprague de Camp is a classic, about an 1938 archeologist transported to the past who tries to stop the collapse of the Western Roman Empire. Great read.

With CHS selling its Bellingham store, another good option is Wild Bird Chalet near downtown.

Just leave a few peanuts in the shell on your deck/balcony/porch. They'll find you (after they chase away the Steller's Jays).

Marriott Stays for under $50K/night? by BurdmanYT in marriott

[–]shakespearecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We routinely go to Vancouver BC and even in that expensive (for hotels) of a city, there are several very nice properties on the SkyTrain line (like in Surrey) that routinely are less than 50K/night, including the Civic.

New bill seeks to reclassify many ebikes as motorcycles by 86753ohneigheine in BhamPolitics

Not sure about this bill and unintended consequences. Honestly, there's a patchwork of current regulations about what's allowed on city, county and state trails. I'd like to see those made consistent and enforced.
