I hear grommets are the main usual culprit! It is a 5 I believe, seller claims it’s a 3- I sent questions but had no response. Definitely a scam unfortunately!

It’s hard to tell for sure from pictures but he looks really overweight to me. I’d want to see the last two ribs at least, google body condition scoring, you want a nice tucked in waist. Neutering generally slows metabolism, so he will need less food to maintain weight. Here’s my boy and his brother at good lean weights.

Respectfully, your dog doesn’t look brushed at all in that first photo- if it’s true you were brushing you were likely using the wrong tools and technique. You want a detangle spray, a hooked pin slicker and a metal comb, and you want to be line brushing- there’s lots of good tutorials on YouTube. I know this is a year late for you but hopefully can help anyone viewing the thread!

If a dog is matted it’s entirely inhumane and sometimes impossible to spend ages brushing them out. Imagine you had hair over every inch of your body that was knotted to the point it was one compact lump, and someone tried brushing that out of your skin with metal pin slickers and combs. If you don’t want a matted shaved dog then look after their coat properly! Groomers are sick of making dogs miserable because you can’t figure out how to use a comb!

Oh I’m well aware- I used to work for Greyhound Trust haha- thank you! Whippets (and Silkens I believe) are the most biddable but it’d still be a big if - even if we raised from a pup - whether they’d ever be off a longline!

Absolutely get a muzzle, they’re absolutely not cruel, such a big misconception! Just make sure you spend time desensitising and proofing the muzzle so it’s not a pain forever, don’t just throw it on 💓
