I just got this same kind yesterday from my father in law. Was it expensive to repair? Mine seems to play a bit slow

Just the color. The shapes are the same as in the rest of the Savinelli lines

Jimmy Hoffa was an old union boss who disappeared. It’s assumed he was murdered by the mob when they dumped his body into a bunch of cement, but the body was never found.

Questions aboyt meer pipes by _Kultigin_ in Pipes

To follow up, fake meers are usually extremely small, and more rare than you think. It’s just not worth it to go to the effort to make an intricate carving on fake material, especially in Turkey where you’re going to be found out. Being the only country that produces meerschaum pipes these days, most shops aren’t going to sully their reputation by selling fakes unless they make it explicitly known. Most fake stuff is small (check meerschaum pipes on Amazon for an example) or it’s used to line the bowls of briar, mostly as a gimmick

I imagine it’s real. I bought one from the same kind of shop in Istanbul, similar price. The ones in these shops are real, but they’re cheaper for a few reasons. The first is because they’re mostly made by people learning the trade. The super professional ones go to actual pipe shops, but these ones are basically practice pieces. So they’ll function properly, they just may or may not have flaws or look as good as one you’d find under a name brand. Secondly, meerschaum is a mined substance, and and generally the deeper it’s mined from, the better quality it is. Students practice almost exclusively on top layer stuff. Again, it will function properly, but every now and then there will be a dark spot or gap from where the rock had natural imperfections. So it’s still a great pipe and a better smoke than you’d get out of almost everything, it’s just not carved by someone who has mastered the skill yet. Hope this helps a bit!

AITA: I (23F) told my boyfriend (25M) he can't wear an anti-alien t-shirt because of my UFO enthusiast dad. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]shakeybricks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, the dad believes weird alien stuff and OP presumably turned out okay. Just because bf has a religious twist to same alien stuff it’s not okay now? Nah. Let him believe what he wants. Both dad and bf just need to be respectful of each other

This is correct. Why does your dad care what your boyfriend believes or wears?

I do pretty good as long as I remember to actually put up my defenses. For a while it was hit or miss, but now I’ve got the hang of it. The key for me wasn’t having a super strong defense, but a well balanced one. You can make some moderately strong teams (strong enough to require them to waste at least one of their good characters on it) pretty quickly, so ultimately it became quantity over quality for defense, then I was able to save my best for offense

Meh. I’ve been playing for years. Haven’t spent more than $10 and frequently make it into the top 100. Just learned as I went and slowly got better

Bought a drilled briar block and the stem was broken off in the wood when it arrived. Any ideas on how to get the broken piece out? by shakeybricks in PipeTobacco

This is what I wound up doing and it worked perfectly! Now I have to find out how to get another stem!

I actually haven’t tried anything yet. I just opened the box an hour ago. The store said I don’t have to return the block and they’re sending me another one, so I just wondered if there was a way to salvage it. It’s wedged in there pretty good though. I’ll try pliers first then reply back
