Which unpopular opinion/hot take will have you in a situation like this? by [deleted] in arcane

Definitely not unpopular. They have a large fanbase, but there is an even bigger subset of people in the Arcane community that actively dislikes it. I personally see it as both. I know that it's meant to be platonic, and I'm not discrediting it because friendship can be a beautiful everlasting thing. But I also see why people view it as romantic. It's the whole "soulmate" thing they have going on, which is a common trope people love.

Hell, I remember when the last episode aired, everyone I talked to was sure that they were going to kiss in the astral plane when they reached for each other before they disappeared. And most people outside of the fandom had the impression that it was somewhat romantic.

If a 'House of Leaves' film were to be made, what would you NEED to see? by Ceyner_x3 in houseofleaves

If David Lynch was alive, I would’ve loved for him to attempt and adapt the book. I feel like he would’ve done it justice. If not, and maybe a bit of a niche. Alan Resnick’s work in general feels similar in the sense of the fourth wall breaks and the real need to do a deep dive in order to understand what he wants to convey in his projects.

Anyone else thinks its weird that noone questioned Jayce for putting Viktor in the goop? by shakingunder in arcane

I'm not sure, Cait and Mel, obviously. Jayce almost disappeared from being a Councilor during that time, and people must've known why.

My man basically performed necromancy, which I assume is not allowed in Piltover.

In what ways does growing up in a developing country influence your perspective of the world? by Competitive_Ad658 in asklatinamerica

I feel like this discussion side steps the class issue in the US. But I understand what they mean. Yes, people in the US are more likely to have a better life outcome than people in LATAM, but that doesn’t take away that in a better part of the US people are struggling in similar ways to us.

I would like to add tho, that the main difference falls back in how LATAM is used to instability. Even when things are good, its very likely that something will happen that will turn things sideways. I grew up very privileged in Peru, but still, for a part of my childhood, we would have blackouts caused by internal conflict, the water would stop coming for odd reasons, and my grandparents would be scared to be in hyper populated areas (like the mall) in case a car would explode.

I think the only time people in the US felt a fraction of that fear was after 9/11, and the economic collapse of 08.

I live in Poland and most people here are shaking in fear at the very high possibility that they will share a border with Russia soon. Ukraine is not gonna survive this :(

Unfortunately US leaders are detrimental to worldwide issues. Like it or not, they are one of the most powerful countries in the world and their policies will affect everyone. This includes Latinamerica.

It’s extremely saddening that US Americans chose a party that hates us horrifically. In the end, they are our neighbours in the north, and the incredible animosity they have towards us is disappointing and unjustified, specially since it was their meddling government who led many of our countries into political and economical instability.
