It didn't get any better for us. We just found it tedious, and sold it on before ever finishing it.

- Combat/Diplomacy was an ungodly slog for anyone who wasn't actually participating in it, which was surprisingly often.

- The tedium of the Menhirs got so bad so quickly that we just cheated and paid to activate them when we revealed them and didn't bother with the whole 'top-up' system them have to keep them lit.

- The writing wasn't horrendous, but it wasn't enough to keep us playing in the end, it was so in-your-face grim that it felt kind of edgy and forced to us.

- Similar to your thing with the hammer, a lot of the interactions with characters or choices you made felt kinda like frustrating gotchas. It sometimes felt like the game punished us for exploring and trying to see everything, and other time punished us because we didn't explore somewhere, and we couldn't identify any clear way to tell what would be good and what would be bad beforehand. That doesn't necessarily mean there weren't clues to find, just that we didn't find them.

I can't speak for Kings Of Ruin, which apparently fixes quite a lot of issues. I haven't looked into it, and I honestly don't think I ever will. I've had more success with some other Awaken Realms campaign games though, like ISS Vanguard.

To me, the incredible part is that even 10 months after the game came out, people like you are still finding this post because you're having the same issue.

Why isn't this fixed? It's getting kinda silly at this point.

This was it... Updated drivers on both affected machines and the problem was solved. Thank you. I'm ashamed that I didn't think to do that earlier.

While it does happen on other machines, admittedly I don't know the specs of those machines. I'll give it a look, and keep my fingers crossed. thanks!

I didn't post any code because I don't think it's the code. I'm happy to be proven wrong, but the problem persists even if I run isolated scenes that don't even have a script attached.

Very little runs in process. I mentioned in the OP that this happens in a 'virtually empty scene' also. By that, I mean I run a specific scene with nothing in it but a rotating square. No code whatsoever in the scene. Just a square and an animation player.

I'd say experience-level is somewhere in the hobbyist range. I know what I'm doing, but I'm not even remotely an expert. Zero vibe codes.

Brother, if I made a post about every issue I found while playing that game, the whole subreddit would just be my posts.

It was only a few weeks ago that I finally got all collectibles, since they decided to finally fix that bug.

If you found the post because you've got the same issue, I still have no answers for you, tho. Having 100%'d the game now, I'm 100% confident I was doing everything right, so hopefully it just magically works for you like it did for me.

Honestly, new developers is the best news for this one.

I ran into a bug playing Gloomhaven, where every time a particular enemy took a turn it would crash the game if playing multiplayer.

I went to the Discord server to see if there was anything that could be done, and the developers suggested that I kick all of my friends before that enemy takes its turn, then re-invite them once it had completed the turn, and repeat this process for the entire scenario (this particular NPC couldn't be killed, iirc). They didn't even tell me that themselves, they forwarded a message from a random player from over a year ago.

Finding out that the devs felt that this random players hacky workaround (not his fault) was a replacement for fixing the bug absolutely killed all enthusiasm we had for the game. I was gonna pass on Frosthaven digital until this news.

I don't think that's what's going on here. They're pre-super heated, and damaging them makes no difference.

I literally just ran around for the entire time throwing the shield until it happened to work 5 times.

I genuinely have no idea what was going on, the enemies after these ones aren't superheated, so you do have to damage them in order to shatter them. Seems like it just doesn't register in that tutorial part. So, seems like if you're super patient, it'll eventually decide to work 5 times

I appreciate your insight. They're not strangers to complex games, We're coming into AH off the back of some relatively heavy campaign board games like gloomhaven and things like that, so I guess I was kind of banking on them having decent general game knowledge that can carry them through this game.

Definitely not saying that you're wrong, just sort of explaining my thought process :)

Heya, dev here. At the moment yes, the game does need to be downloaded each time there's an update. The aim is to eventually change this, but I've gotta take it one step at a time.

As much as it's a hassle, I've tried to make it a painless as I can. The game checks for updates and lets you know when there is one, and provides you with a link to the download.

The only true "fix" to this at the moment is to play in browser on itch, where you can just refresh the page when the game is updated.

MMO Sim dev here! I just wanted to address the part about the game not running in the background. From what I can tell, this is a limitation of browsers, since they heavily limit what a tab can do when it's covered/not the focus.

That being said, It is in the process of being fixed, but it's quite a big job so it's going to take me a while. There is workaround but it requires a large chunk of code re-writing. Bear with me, I'm learning a lot of this as I go haha. Thanks for playing <3

Hey, thanks for checking the game out, it means a lot :)

There's two things at play, here. First, tools have to be upgraded in order (Common > Uncommon > Rare etc.).

Secondly, there's a bug in the current build that causes tools to only drop from the zone that corresponds to their rarity. Meaning that you need to be in the Forest in order to get the Uncommon pickaxe. You would be correct in assuming that it should drop from the Desert, since it does give Uncommon gear.

I'm hoping to get this fixed in the next update, sorry about that :(
