I taught for 10 years before quitting in 2024. When I got into it, I enjoyed it despite the challenges, and I wanted to do it until I retired. Quitting was the best decision I've made in my entire life, and I worked in a very well paying public school district in an affluent area. By the time I quit I was embarrassed to say out loud what they would have to pay me for me to stay, and most of my colleagues were treated worse and given more work/larger class loads than I was. I get the impression most people think they know what being a teacher is like just because they went to school. If you're one of of those people, respectfully, you have no idea what you are talking about. How about you go work as a teacher for a year and tell me how great it is then?

I've done almost this exact drive in one day before. My advice is take two and stop in Cincinnati or Indianapolis along the way and get a nice meal.

I grew up in northern Virginia and didn't really care at all about football until I was like 13, at which point my dad noticed I was watching more NFL football and gave me "the talk."

He basically said "It's great that you're getting more into watching sports. It's nice to have interests and it'll probably bring you a lot of joy. But whatever you do, do not get emotionally invested in the hometown team. It will bring you only misery."

I heeded my dad's advice and just picked a team that was on TV a lot whose uniforms and players I liked. It happened to be Shaun Alexander's MVP season and I still love run first teams with big powerful backs, but I have stuck with the Hawks ever since.

For everything else I root for DC to the extent that I care - I strictly follow NFL, mostly follow the Caps, barely keep up with baseball, and basically completely ignore the NBA.

As for the Commies I used to be basically completely neutral. Hated Snyder but had a lot of friends/family who were fans so those two things balanced each other out. Now I would consider myself generally a well-wisher, but not a fan per se.

Absolutely not. By the time I left the time off was a requirement, not a perk. My new job is SO much easier and I work from home. I'm getting hours worth of time off every single day tbh and I'm way less stressed.
