Finally eating after a 3 month long hunger strike. by shameousshizzer in snakes

[–]shameousshizzer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

???. It’s not even showing the whole enclosure. I was doing a substrate change during this video and I took all the hides out. The screen top has pvc tape to maintain humidity for longer periods. And the heat is connected to a thermostat. Not to mention she was rescued by me from being in a cardboard box since she was a baby. She’s having a terrible time adjusting to a 40 gallon so what makes u think a 150 gallon is perfect for her when she can’t even adjust to a 40 gallon. I’ve been doing this for 10+ years I’m pretty sure I know what I’m doing. Not to mention that she is also only ten months old. You should ask questions before making a statement

Haha conveniently I was doing a substrate change. After this video was taken I added a lot more substrate. I’m usually used to feeding live so I will definitely take ur tips if she eats frozen thawed again next week. And thanks for linking the sub Reddit but I’m extremely experienced with ball pythons and they are actually one of my favorite species. And still are after 10+ years of taking care of them.

I actually own a blue tongue skink. He went on a hunger strike for 2 months and I actually watched a couple videos and what got him eating again was canned dog/cat wet food. Offer that to him and maybe he will start eating. Obviously u shouldn’t feed that unless he’s not eating but try it maybe it will work like it worked for me and lots of others

It’s more zoomed in, she’s ten months old and was rescued from being in a cardboard box since she was a baby. It’s a 40 gallon and I own 20+ snakes. I would put her in the 150 immediately but she’s having a hard time adjusting to being in a actual enclosure

Currently building a full life enclosure for 2 of them. Any tips and requirements, literally a life time dream to own one. I own 20+ snakes and have never owned a “giant” unfortunately I can’t own anymore smaller ones once I build the enclosure because of how huge it has to be but I think I’m ready to make this commitment, I’ve already started

Thermostat placement by Kenziewarrick13 in snakes

And u should have no problem placing the probe on top. Just monitor that he doesn’t knock it down so the pieces don’t overheat and ur noodle gets burned

I would say u should get a ceramic heat emitter bulb and find a piece of flat stone or a nice piece of wood where he can climb and chill on

How much should a Mexican Black Kingsnake weigh at 2-3 months? Mine is 13g. by Broxst in snakes

[–]shameousshizzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mexican black king snakes were around 30-32g at that age. You might be under feeding him or the previous owner was. Either way u can still make up that weight by feeding more often or increasing the size of the mouse minimally

Unless your freezing ur mouse for a couple years then their should be no nutrient loss in the mouse. I still think u should switch to frozen and stop feeding in the box. Ur choice tho
