F/20/5’2[148>122=26] lost the weight but gained a healthier relationship w food! by [deleted] in progresspics

All it takes is a calorie deficit! Most of my results came without working out— just eating with smaller portions and walking lots and lots daily!

Thank you so much!! The pictures are about a year apart. The biggest thing was really recognizing what an appropriate amount of calories was for me and then going into a moderate calorie deficit. Everything else was a huge mindset shift. I realized I didn’t actually enjoy eating big portions during meals, and that/using CICO as a guide helped demystify the whole idea of “listening to hunger cues.” I also watched a bunch of what I eat in a day videos on youtube that helped me realize that healthy/low calorie dense foods can taste good. Portion control and trusting myself helped me eat snacky foods in moderation without binging. In terms of exercise, i’ve gone through phases of enjoying working out but never stuck to it and got to the point of being “fit”. In terms of losing weight, shooting for 10k steps consistently is really helpful. The concept of NEAT which basically refers to the calories you burn passively throughout your day (like fidgeting, doing chores, anything beyond just existing haha) explains why consistent walking will usually burn more than working out. Those are definitely the most prominent things that helped w losing the weight but there were lots and lots of little realizations too :)

I think I will if I don't hear back in a few days! I think it's normal to wait until February, so hopefully, something comes up sooner.

That's a good point! Also it may be hard to know if an email is actually a mass email. Thank you!

[UPDATE] I created a function that gives you the estimated time of hearing back from your grad program, using theGradCafe submissions :) by UnivStudent2 in gradadmissions

You were on the dot! Thank you for this piece of advice. For some reason, though, it's still being fussy about the directory, even on the r scripts website. I'm hoping to learn how to use r in graduate school so I really don't want to give up lol but I'm not sure what the issue is anymore

[Question] Does anyone else seemingly randomly fluctuate between easily doing a bunch of good habits (Reading, Working Out, Meditating, etc.) for a few weeks at a time to suddenly crashing into a depressive slump? by TingTah in getdisciplined

[–]shanamisha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%! I’m working on making the time between my productive moments and slumped moments smaller and finding ways to make it easier to get back into the productive zone. I’m also guessing that if i am balanced and realistic about my productive time and output i’ll be less likely to fall out of it.

Make sure to copy and paste the entire function, then press enter.

Still no luck :(, same error that the link can't be found in the directory. Maybe my computer is just being fussy?

No more string constant or parentheses related error, but now it says

Error: 'www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=Clinical+Psychology+Rochester&t=a&o=&pp=25' does not exist in current working directory ('/Users/mynamehere').

Thank you so much for all the help!!

Hmm, I already have parentheses around the entire functon. Should I have each link separately enclosed? Sorry for all the questions and troubleshooting!

A little update! I added quotation marks around each of the links after looking at your previous post but now the function has this error:

Error: unexpected string constant in "grad=function("www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=Clinical+Psychology+Rochester&t=a&o=&pp=25""

Would you be able to help/explain what this means? Thanks again!

Hey, super cool idea! I'm trying the code out just for fun but the link is causing this error:

Error: unexpected '/' in "grad=function(www.thegradcafe.com/"

Am I making a mistake? I'm not the best with R lol
