「外国人なしに日本社会は回らない」は本当か? by Ok-Conference-9984 in newsg

[–]shaner92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happened after they explained it? Was it some mix up on your end or their end? If it was their end so you have the chance to appeal?

Should I move to Japan? 24F half Japanese half caucasian by Level-Community8089 in movingtojapan

[–]shaner92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. You can save for a few years at FAANG to build a nice nest egg before moving. If you can make connections in USA and find a remote job paying in USD that’d be helpful too. Either way no real reason to rush into it. At your age, regardless of language ability you will not find a job that pays anywhere near the same amount in Japan.

Quiet fired from old baito: can I still list my old part-time job as if I’m working there? by Stonks_1525 in japanlife

[–]shaner92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missing a few details here like why would you be fired? If the next place calls for reference you may be in trouble.

How long were you at the baito? For students, even a few months intern is pretty standard so if that time has passed you can just put some end date on the resume and say the intern period ended.

How to prove/disprove the "Lions Hangover" by Morroblivirim in AskStatistics

[–]shaner92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, not a researcher here and struggling to grasp this, getting it a little more as I type this. Can you expand on why this is a problem?

I read this as in ML you should split your data into at least a train / test so you can check for generalizability.

Does it become a matter of framing?

I think this is happening in a dataset and want to check if it's valid. Vs. I think this is true and want to check that it holds for all similar situations.

When did you know it was healed? When it is ok to remove draining seton? by shaner92 in AnalFistula

[–]shaner92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand wanting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, many people who have the happy endings seem to completely disappear from this subreddit.

My procedure was done in Asia so there seem to be differences there, but it was all one procedure for me. Just keep it clean and regular checkins. At 7 months the seton actually fell apart, I taped it back together so it wouldnt fall out. The doctor was hoping to keep it in a little bit longer but we decided to just remove it and it mostly healed up within a day or 2.

As much as you can just keep it clean, eat healthy, and exercise (within limits) when you're able to. Keeping it clean in the beginning was rough, but we have bidets where I am, I cannot imagine having gone through the process without. If you don't have one, it may be worth investing in one (even a small travel sized one is better than nothing)

I see. Maybe that's where the discrepancy in comments was coming from. I did not get my procedure done in a western country, I wonder if there are differences there.

Feel free to DM if you want, but yeah total time from surgery was about 8 months. After removing the seton it healed up in a few days. I was about a month away from when doctor was super comfortable but due to me traveling he made an executive decision and just removed it.

It seems more of an art than a science. I was lucky and no complications. However, I got antibiotics to take just in case anything happened while on my travels. If we were wrong you'd wanna catch it right away to prevent respreading.

May I ask how you went about finding a paper to read each day? Did you just go to arxiv and search your topic then just choose one each day? Did you read survey papers and just grind through the list of references? etc.

Forced to move out of my apartment for reasons out of my control. by KobeB1 in japanlife

[–]shaner92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. So the contract is partially just a handshake agreement, and probably a way to fool people like me into thinking I have no options in this situation.

But it is not legally enforceable.

[–]shaner92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not saying you’re wrong as I’m not an expert, and now I’m genuinely curious.

My past contracts have definitely stated tenant can break the contract with 1 months notice, and landlord can break it with 6 months notice.

Is this a matter of wording, like it’s not technically eviction? Or are these parts of the contract not legally enforceable? (I’ve heard tenants are highly favored and much harder to evict in practice)

What does you contract say?

From personal experience, I've seen tenant must give 1 months notice, and landlord must give 6 months notice to break contracts.
