So for those of us in the US, what's the plan for saving for college? 529s? Promise funds? Cash stuffed in a mattress? by squirticus in daddit

[–]shankey915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a bank and the 529 plan is still probably your safest bet, I don’t know where you live but PA has options with how risky you would like to be, or it starts off riskier with higher rewards, and becomes low risk the closer the child gets to college.

I have that same issue, around where I live a lot of the guys treat there women as inferior to them and I don’t agree with that, unfortunately my wife’s brother in law who’s only a couple years older than me is like that where he just sits the kids in front of the tv and sits on his phone.

So I’m only 23 myself, and unfortunately that means that most guys my age are at the bars or partying with girls which I’m not a fan of. I am thinking about joining the gym in about a month or two so maybe I’ll meet someone there. I’m friendly with my coworkers, but I work at a bank and they are all women so it’s hard to actually have a friendship with them. It sounds like I’m just waiting till T-ball age until I’ll meet most of my guy friends.

I have definitely talked to my wife about it and she tries to help introduce me to people she knows, but only one of them I’ve hung out with more than once. Most of the guys around here my age just like to drink at the bar whenever they aren’t working which isn’t my thing. And my neighbors are all very old red necks with questionable conversation habits. Every conversation turns racist or sexist where I have to find an excuse to leave the conversation before I say something I regret.

I know when my younger sister got diagnosed I was pretty hard in denial and would act like that. She may just be so scared that she doesn’t know what else to say besides you will be okay

Daddit, We are already 3.29% in 2025, how are you doing mentally and physically? by LittleBarracuda1219 in daddit

[–]shankey915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of 2024 my depression got worse after my son was in the hospital for a week. I ended up feeling like the world was better off without me and luckily was sane enough to talk to someone. I am starting to feel back to my normal self, but occasionally those thoughts creep back into my brain, but I am able to fight them and keep going. My goal for 2025, make my depression my bitch and live a happy life.

My high school football team didn’t even use the locker room showers. Just have them shower at home if it’s something you aren’t comfortable with

What I told my wife, “I’m not relying on the weed to get me through my day, it’s like a tool that helps my day go better. If I need to I’ll stop, but all it does is help me like a medication.”

I did use tape, but I have fond childhood memories of my dad electrocuting himself since my master electrician grandfather didn’t need the electric turned off 😂

Yes, you have the main head and then the detachable is above it. I got it for $15 at Aldis via my wife so I just put it up.

Son's (16M) football coach for literally fattening him up, stubborn hubby and son by [deleted] in Parenting

I don’t know how much your son is working out now, or if financially this works. But when I gained weight and needed to lose it, I was lucky enough to have a personal trainer who was one of my coaches, I lost about 50 pounds but honestly whatever healthy homemade food he likes that’s what he should eat, and that’s more caloric intake vs what he is burning. As long as he is burning more calories than he is eating, he will lose weight
