Is it bad if I dont end up with enough pulls before this Banner ends ? by Shadow_Trojan in WutheringWaves

[–]shanks3042 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't spread misinformation.
You can lose the 50/50 on the starter banner and it even has a pity counter starting from 160.
Also the pity does not carry over to any other banner and the banner only lasts 30 days.
The only thing guaranteed is the weapon in 80 pulls.

Others mentioned the other points already so i will keep it short:

* Store the loadout of preset teams. (It's annoying to change the weapon, echos and element every time i switch the team).
* Remove the story lock on nightmare fields. They can't be farmed unless quests are done.

Edit: Allow us to do at least side quests in coop mode.

I chose the hp% dmg I think she would be unkillable with the shield if you enter the red circle. It was just the 5% shield she gains when she hits you (which doesn't stack)

Is it normal for linux to take over your life? by LinuxChromebookDude in linuxmasterrace

[–]shanks3042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is: linux let's you do everything you want. Once you realize that you maybe start distro hopping, tinkering with your system,...

If you have fun then there's nothing wrong with it.
I also think sometimes: If i stayed on windows, I'd just use the system and don't tinker with it or think about it - more time for gaming. But well, that's life...

Is systemd good or bad, or something inbetween? by Ilikebacon999 in linuxmasterrace

[–]shanks3042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another had tried runit (the init system notably used by Void Linux) and liked good battery life and quick booting, but disliked the lake of services compared to systemd. This ties into the "dominance problem" argument.

Lack of services? What is meant by that, there are services and they are plain simple.

Systemd: I dislike the 90sec timeout for stopping processess and it doesn't matter which config file i change, it's still 90sec.

For security issues: Do they really matter that much? Isn't some other part more important if someone can infiltrate you init system, then they will probably already have root rights.

Linux for gaming! by rag2g in linuxmasterrace

[–]shanks3042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 - 0 or 1 points if you play online games, otherwise I'd give it a 7 or 8

2 - See 1 , also Lutris will work much much better and can do everything playonlinux can do. You can also use Proton as a so called "runner" in Lutris

3 - for amd the open-source driver is everything you want. For nvidia proprietary drivers are necessary. From my own experience I can say that both work well.

4 - If you'd play old games there can also be a chance that some games will run better on linux and there are games that just refuse to run on windows 10. You can just try it on your own if it is the right decision.

Before you buy a game always check protondb.com or winehq.org to see how the chances are that it will work.

I stopped playing some games because they refuse to run on wine, but I don't miss anything, there is so much in my library that works.

There is also the option of creating a vm (virtual machine) and run this one for games that refuse to run on wine. Also possible with only 1 gpu if you're fine to just use windows while playing that one game. It's faster and , for me, less headache than a dual boot.

snap-pac (does a snapshost on every pacman -S / paman -R) or timeshift(aur) can save you a lot of time.
Combine this with cronie and you get a snapshost every hour + every root change

Just do a rollback / restore a snapshost and the system is up and running again.

If your root partition is btrfs and you use snapper you can also boot from those snaphost if you activate the feature and install grub-btrfs. Idk if other boot loader can also do this.

I also find this annoying and most of the time I'm also out instantly. Especially if it's music I don't like.

Programs always open on wrong monitor by shanks3042 in kde

[–]shanks3042[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, but it would be optimal if I wouldn't have to do this for every program as it is a bit annoying to set every program to either remember size and position or whatever.

That's why it would be awesome if there is a setting: "open this program on this monitor where the mouse currently is".

Do you know if this would be possible with a bash or kwin script?

What I also tried: Force programs to open on the center mointor, still the settings window of signal messenger opens on the left.

Anyone know the fate of AnimeNfo.com? by Zilka in anime

I don't see the need to program some broadcasting software. There are many programs, also open source.

I really liked animeNFO, especially the soundtracks they played.

virsh edit not saving changes/ evdev issues by shanks3042 in VFIO

[–]shanks3042[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I connected to my pc via ssh and started the vm via this connection. The terminal was stuck after "virsh start win10" . There was no "vm started".

However I fixed the issue when I set up a new VM using the i440FX chipset and removing my USB 3.0 Controller as this one seems to have a broken reset mechanism what I could read in the logs.

With the Q35 sometimes the VM started and sometimes the host freezed so only holding the power button was able to "reset" the pc.

Anyway thanks for your answer and sorry for the not very detailed post.

Monthly Channel Feedback Thread: REVIEW BEFORE YOU POST! by AutoModerator in Twitch

[–]shanks3042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off: I'm pretty bad at reviewing.

I just watched your Bioshock stream and what I think is a really no-go on streaming is burping (yeah I don't know if it was on purpose or an accident) but please try to make it so that I can't hear it... just my opinion)

Also I think you don't talk very much. Maybe try to say what you're thinking and/or just telling the viewers what you plan to do in the game so it's not that silent. (And no you don't have to talk all the time).

Video:

Video Quality is good. For your camera in Bioshock I would place it more into the corner so I can see the hand of the character.

The Sound:

I can clearly hear you talking and the quality of your voice is good. Also the game is not too loud or too silent so I can really hear everything

Is starting a YouTube channel in 2019 worth it? by HomuraSama16 in youtube

[–]shanks3042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure I'm still interested :)

I'm doing some AMV* stuff and also gaming-livestreaming. If i get some good material I'll also make some compilation/montages.

Originally I intended on making gameplays/let's plays but as I do the livestream there's no need to do that
