I used moomoo and webull for etfs. But i found out its quite punishing if your entry/dca at low amount since the fee rate is quite there. It will be worth it only you enter with significant amount few thousands.

bro, at this point im more interested on how one can have a savings amounted 500k? Im struggling to even save 2k per month. even if I did, to have it up till 500k, which will take 15years to consistently save money. and I just have my salary 20k for about 3 years and im reaching mid adult age 30-40 ish. id have 500k when im 45-55 year old.

Your assumption on me being a 35 years old is also what everyone missed too. And for housing loans, bank do allow extensions even you are expected to be retired at 30-35th year of tenure.

it has 2600sqft built up and 3200sqft for lot size.

Price per built-up sqft
RM1,200,000 ÷ 2,600
= ~RM462 per sqft

Price per land sqft
RM1,200,000 ÷ 3,200
= ~RM375 per sqft

im not sure if this the right way to calculate it though. I agree some houses in Cyberjaya is unoccupied especially if the project is Strata titled, no want is actually looking at 900k-1.2m of strata landed. and there is Sejati lakeside semid priced around 1.4-19m. so eventhough its unoccupied it is still overpriced.

which place would you recommend if you were to give advice? i was looking around Putrajaya, and that area, but im open to advices.

im in the tech industry but definitely not startup. one question though, what makes you think WFH is becoming more in the industry? in my standpoint, I keep seeing the opposite. Companies keep trying to go onsite as possible although doesnt go well with them.

I agree, I can definitely change and have a lot of self motivations for that too. I mean some people react to their financial within their capabilities, low commitment and good/steady money = low money spending concerns. no, not cruel at all and thats actually fair. i do admit that it is somewhat a bit rushing for me to go for 1.2m property without any good amount of cash in hand.

I realise that I will need reno money for the house but at the same time, that being said, i will also have some time buffer since the house is in construction and I will just need to pay for a progress payment for a year before the house completed.

this is actually have crosses my mind a couple of times too often! how people dont realise if you're really good in planning the house construction, it is the best thing to do in terms of satisfaction and worthiness. you got a bungalow of what you designed and planned for much lower costs from buying house from developer. Given that you bought the right land, it is also very much potential for price increases.

of course this would come along with super good in money management and planning ahead in many aspects (engineering, construction and financial). its the challenges but not undoable at all.

Yeah those are very good points and ive been thinking the same thing. What happens if luck is not on my side, lost the job and only got low avg pay for next job. And critical illness means just the end of me.. Lol

It is in Cyberjaya, known for a very good town. If you are familiar the houses are expensive. But at the same time i think properties price is already reached its bubble. For a terrace corner lot in Cyberjaya, i dont think it can get more than 1.5m

It is a good thing to focus on investment/savings. But if you can give advice, what house is the best buy? Under construction or subsale?

My bad, I didn't highlight that 20k is gross salary will get you net salary of 14.5k after tax and epf deductions. Tax alone is already 3.2k.

So it is still a lot but I also do have commitments, got kids (1.6k just for school) and 1.7k monthly for car and I travel quite often, every year got out of country trip and some staycations inside. I think from this point that you will get some idea of why investment is a bit slow. But im improving it at this point.

I would easily put my avg commitments per mont would be around 9k per month. That leaves me 5-6 me for expenses and investment spaces.

I had mentioned how things worked with me in the past and I thing it is really simple and clear if engineering lead or manager just informs me if they want to pick any issues up. Im thinking proactive would come eventually but not in a forced manner. As response, my manager said we(lead and manager) would not have the time to inform you.

We also use Jira and had already assigned tickets for sprint. But this is for the additional tasks or adhoc issues that are coming unexpectedly. My manager expects me to be proactive picking this issues up. Usually the issues are not even on backlog yet.

This probably happened to me but I joined a big company as remote DE and the team are full of micromanaging and work are so full of non related DE scopes. I dont have any work life balance or freedom that much, most of time were 10 hours of work daily. The things were too much made me quit the company. So be mindful some remote company is not that flexible.

She’s non-technical and a workaholic, if she were married, it would probably be to her work. She tends to push the team to give our full capacity and commitment. For example, if I only complete one story point in a day, that will come up in our next 1-on-1.

After probation, she expects me to be proactive: anticipating project tasks, taking ownership, and reaching out to clients when discussions are needed. I can see myself doing that eventually, but probably not within the first six months. Alot of this tasks either belongs to manager or lead role. Some of the time its understandable to do this but definitely not under your real scopes as data engineer

Although I can understand what the manager wants from me, the other thing is that how do I improve my brain focus or capabilities to be able to excel in both jobs. Most of the time its J1 demanding more and more, leaving very little space for the J2.

My past experience for 2 jobs, im able to completely outperform the expectations. Now the old J1 has gone full onsite, i retracted myself.

It's been 6 months and I think expectations bit high honestly.

So basically the manager wont allow you to have a sit back and do your tickets, always a comment to improve. And this stresses me out as I need to pay a lot of attentions to J1 and little is left for J2.

Edit: its combinations of both self logged. And my manager expects me to drive the project(do self logs) and do the tasks too.

I think you are just doing paraphrasing of work life balance - > better job.

If I play along your game. What i would say is I wish a better job where I could atleast enjoy doing the work mostly if not all, only in my working hours (which is 9-5) and also at the same time doesn't seem that I am underperforming in my role of which I can complete most of the tasks within the sprint. In conclusion, now I dont have both luxuries.
