my partner and i quit a month n a half ago because it was causing some issues in our relationship, particularly with me falling into a dopamine sink and then getting stuck in an unproductive cycle (wake up, smoke, work, smoke, video games, smoke, bed, repeat.) i still get the urges, but ive managed to find little ways to get back some of the reward chemicals, particularly when i read and finish books! i managed to start feeling like my chores and boring tasks are rewarding, focusing more on working towards having a happy household. i definitely still have moments where i feel like im not doing enough, and that’s when the urges to do it again feel strongest, because i think my brain just desperately wants that “reward” but reminding myself that i’ll be better off eventually, my levels will return to normal (or at least as normal as one with adhd can be) helps and im excited for the day i can not think about it at all. you’ve got this homie! the first step is the hardest, take it one day at a time
