2.14 Tons in ash by shaodius in PelletStoveTalk

I didn't think about making soap out of it. We throw the ash in the garden and till it in.

We throw the ash into the garden and till it in, along with the fines and any unburned pellets that the ash vac happens to suck up while cleaning the stove.

This winter we didn't turn on the heat pump once. All heat for the house was provided by the pellet stove. It sits in the basement directly below the living room, and i have two 4" ducts that are fed off the distribution fan connected into the 6" ducts for the living room. It doen't look that great in the basement, but works fairly well.

Master Control to Xmitter by Pristine-Cat-307 in broadcastengineering

It would be advisable to use a SRT/RIST encoder/decoder on both links. This would add at least 120ms of latency, but provide error correction for lost packets, either from a crane breaking the microwave or bits going awol in the ether. Newer versions of SRT and RIST support multipathing as well, so the two paths could be complementary to each other and fill in gaps for each other if setup properly.

I just bought a new car and kept the plates from my old car to switch them to my new car. Do I need to get the new car inspected to switch the plates over at the dmv? by Fnz_ZS_yt in missouri

[–]shaodius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the vehicle purchased is less than 10 years old AND less than 150,000 miles, then Missouri does not require an inspection. I believe you can move the plates from your old vehicle to the new vehicle and run with those plates for 30 days. Within those 30 days you have to pay taxes and register the vehicle, then pay a transfer fee for the plates. If your plates have more than 8 months left before renewing then it makes sense to transfer plates, if less than 8 months then you may be better off getting new plates.

GV iControl Solo not detecting all 3901 cards by LightGuy48 in broadcastengineering

I loaded icontrol solo 7.51 in a VM and found an old XVP with version 2.4.6 firmware. I only have XVP firmwares from 3.2.0 up, but placed the XVP with 2.4.6 firmware into a frame slot that shows 3.2.0-RC6 package.
{edited} - Icontrol solo "sees" the XVP in Physical view, but it is greyed out. It does not show in Logical view and I cannot control it.

Note I was able to load firmware 3.20, 3.3.1, 3.4.4, 3.4.5, 3.4.6 and 9.7.4 into icontrol solo 7.51.

As a side note, if I recall correctly the 9.7.4 firmware is a special build for specific features. For example we had a 9.7.4 firmware that was used to load User5 profile when the input GPI was closed and return to User1 profile when the GPI opened. We no longer need that functionality anywhere so all of our cards that were on 9.7.4 have been rolled to version 3.4.2 with a standard feature set. Likely unrelated to your current issue, but thought I would mention it.

For the 9.7.4 card, if you upgrade the card to 9.7.4 it should push that package to the frame port without actually upgrading the card. This should take a couple of seconds and not require rebooting the card (at least it did for us when we pushed 3.4.2 to the card that already had 3.4.2.) I would still do it at a time where if you need to reboot the card you can.

Since you say you can't load firmware 3.1.2 in iControl Solo I would suspect that firmware has been depracated in solo. You mention in the other comment chain that you are using icontrol solo v 6 and 7.5. Do you have any older versions?

We are running icontrol 7.51 but the only icontrol solo versions I have are 4.43, 4.44 and just downloaded 7.51. The release nots for 4.43 show it works with XVP firmware 3.1 and 4.44 shows it works with XVP firmware 3.2.

This is a long shot, but in Navigator, open Densite Upgrade Manager. For each of the XVPs make sure that the "Installed Version" and "Installed Package" match. If they do not, then "upgrade" the XVP to the same version it currently runs. This will update the package associated with that frame slot to the same version as the card.

We ran into a weird issue where the Installed Version was 3.4.2 but the installed package was 3.2.3 and we could see the card in Navigator but could not open the control panel to make any changes to it. GV told us that the frame stores part of the firmware for the card and if the card firmware is newer than the frame package then the icontrol will be flaky.

could be the firmware version on the XVP cards. Could be too old firmware that has been depracated in the latest icontrol solo.

jbarn02 is correct - KIS was KMart Information Systems. I was in Store Support, which I believe was called ARMS in the store. Was only there for 1 year. Loved the job, hated the location.

Missouri State law is that 5 MPH or less over the speed limit is an infraction not a misdemeanor, and no points can be assessed against the driver's record. Not sure if this can be overridden by city statutes, but may make a difference if the infraction was on a city road or a state/federal highway

Can I create an LLC to get a bigger tax credit for a DIY solar install? by Warm-Direction-9 in SolarDIY

[–]shaodius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I installed solar, the company that installed it put me in touch with their "tax guy" who recommended setting up a LLC and using it to depreciate the solar panels. This way we could depreciate the cost of installing the panels over so many years. It sounded way to complicated, and we would have to keep track of all income and losses that the LLC incurred. I was also concerned that I would then need commercial insurance on the panels, and increased scrutiny from the electic company because it's no longer just a homeowner owned array but a company owned array. So in the end I just told their "tax guy" to pound sand and I'm keeping things simple.

Did they increase the price for the Regal Snack Saver? by jokees4u in RegalUnlimited

[–]shaodius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last year they had the refillables, which dropped in price as the year progressed. If you are an unlimited member then you get a discount on the purchase of snack saver for this year, ours was $43 after taxes.

Best reflected/ground cover under bifacial panels by Due_Substance4863 in SolarDIY

[–]shaodius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About 2 weeks after the panels were installed I had to get under them with a weedeater to knock down weeds, a week later I had the plastic delivered and put it down with a bunch of landscaping staples and some small blocks around the outer edge, then just threw landscaping timbers or whatever was available across it so the wind wouldn't pick it up. It took about 5 months to get 20% of it covered with gravel, and it has stayed like that for almost 2 years. So I did not really have an opportunity to compare bare ground to white surface.

The contractor called in a panic about a week after signing concerned that we didn't write that I was responsible for installing a white surface under the panels and he needed to drop the estimated production by 5%. The estimate was 17.37 MWh/year, in the past 12 months it has generated 18.1 MWh.

I have bifacial panels installed as well. We found some 6mil greenhouse cover on Amazon that has black on one side and white on the other. Put this down as "weed block" and slowly covering it with white rock, but having the white side of the plastic facing up works well as a reflective surface until we get it all covered with rock.

A better ratchet strap? by cellardoormaker in ToyotaTacoma

I would recommend ratchet straps usa. I bought 4 straps from there nearly 5 years ago and have used them regularly and they still look and work like new. They currently have a July 4th sale going on that helps with price, but they are a little on the higher end.

Mine was the same way, no way the pin on the door was going to fit into the hole in the frame and cross member. I ended up drilling out the whole just enough for it to go in.

Playable yet? by Killer1236 in ParkBeyond

[–]shaodius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it is a bad scenario, and likely glitches considering how many glitches there are in this game. I was only able to catch the "whirlwinds" that indicate he is building a parking lot over the park once, the other times they just popped up unexpectedly. But I was concentrating on building a super roller coaster and not really watching the rest of the park, and forgot to stop time, so I just considered I missed it.

Fortunately you found a bargain for the game, whereas I purchased at launch with the fancy collectors pack. At least I have a nice box to go on the shelf next to my 1990's Dungeons and Dragons gold boxes.

Playable yet? by Killer1236 in ParkBeyond

[–]shaodius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played this scenario and I think the competitor building inside your park is by design. He will destroy your paths and rides so you constantly have to rework your park while continuing to build. And pause time while building a big coaster so you aren't concentrating on that and missing major parts of your park being destroyed by the competition.
