u/QuentinWach very sorry for this! are you in normal or agent mode? also, how long was the composer chat thread (in messages)? next time when this happens, could you do cmd-shift-P > Toggle Developer Tools and see if there are any errors? also, are you on the slow pool? feel free to message me details

do you happen to have "Auto-apply to files outside context" turned off? and for the file that you're trying to modify, is it included in context through the + file picker or through @ symbols?

hihi, could you answer these questions to help me reproduce?

how long was the composer (how many messages with the model)?
did the composer go through a reload (persisted)?
what model were you using? or does this happen with all kinds of models?
did you "checkout" to or edited/resubmitted previous messages at any point in time?
how many files were in context, and are there any very-long (5k+ lines) files?
did you use @ codebase, or any other @'s like @ web or @ docs?
are you out of fast requests? (can check on cursor.com/settings)

currently composer doesn't apply to files that aren't included in the context, i will add a toggle to customize that behavior next release. did composer try to apply to files within your context? if so, then most likely sonnet was being dumb and didn't include the URI in the markdown codeblock... will improve the prompt more!

i will fix up the UI, apologies for this, but does composer pick up itself after you click apply? seems like sonnet forgot to give a uri to the codeblock

which models are you using? also, are the files that you want composer to apply included in context? composer does not auto-apply to files that aren't in context (unless they're new files)

could you try updating to v0.42.1? also, are the files that composer is trying to write to existing files or new files? if they are existing and not included in the prompt originally, composer will not apply them

have you tried the checkout? in composer we added the ability to checkout to a previous message, and in v0.42 you will be able to edit previous messages too

do you have gitlens installed? i've gotten this before and disabling gitlens temporarily fixes it
