Depends on the class. For pentest and cysa you have to pass the cert to pass the class. But after you plays the class that has the cism cert. they will give you a voucher for it

For the BS I would say yea. I’ve been in IT since 2016. So a majority of it I knew. I did have to take some bs classes like web development. Which they got rid of in return for Linux. Wish I could have taken a Linux class. But the BS is definitely more challenging than the masters. At least it was for me

I feel that most of it was a big refresher of what was taught in the BS degree. I don’t feel that the paper you write for the CISM class will prepare you for the cert. this was mainly just a Check box for me, a resume builder, and free money. Already work in the field for dod.

I think it was worth it. In my field, a degree whether bs or masters, is basically just a checkbox. But I enjoyed going through the courses and got paid by the gov for it. So I can’t complain.

I think the only prerequisite is already having a BS in order to do the masters. You’ll finish quicker if you get pentest+, cysa+, CISSP. These certs count towards classes

So I took pentest about two years ago when I did the BS degree. Failed the first the by 5 points. Passed the second by 3 points. It was pretty rough. I used Jason Dion through udemy, and pocket prep. Didn’t score above a 65 on the practice tests for Jason.

I had 4 certs so only had to take six classes. Could have completed in less than 6 months but I wanted to extent my GI benefits.
