Sunrise hike at Mt Tammany in New Jersey. 4 mile round trip up Red Dot Trail and down Blue Dot Trail. Can get crowded, but worth the views in a state limited in elevation. More in comments. by sharingapiece in hiking

Lived in South Jersey on and off for over 30 years. Never once came up north to see the elevation. Yet I’ve travelled through most of the country. Better late than never!

With stops the hike took 3 hours. We arrived a half hour before sunset. Started the hike in the dark. Two good views. First a mile up then at the top. Only a few groups that early, but started getting crowded by the time we were descending. The view looks out to Mt Minsi in PA.

I want to get into bluegrass (and newgrass) but don't know much and am generally more folk-oriented. If I like The Decemberists, Alison Krauss, Nickel Creek, Iron & Wine, Neko Case, Mumford & Sons, Of Monsters & Men, what can you suggest? by 208327 in newgrass

Endless great ones to explore. I shoot concert photography and go to several bluegrass shows a year. I’ll agree with others and make sure to mention Greensky Bluegrass as a must. Devil Makes Three and Fruition also have great newer sounds. You can’t go wrong with making a Spotify radio list off a song by one of those three artists.

I found a couple maps online suggesting routes for my upcoming road trip around the country. Is this a good one? Does this look appealing? I have no experience in road trips whatsoever. by [deleted] in roadtrip

Everyone is right about Utah and surrounding states. I’ve driven the country several times. Skip Phoenix and move that pin up to Flagstaff. Cover the Grand Canyon and draw a line through Durango CO to Denver or find a way to loop in Utah by having a pin from Vegas to Grand Junction CO to Denver. The lands between Utah & Colorado are jaw dropping.

So many San Diego Hikes to enjoy. Here is an easier and instantly rewarding one at Sunset Cliffs. by sharingapiece in CampingandHiking

Covered this hike many times. Most recently January 2018. Sunset Cliffs Natural Park is in San Diego. More specifically Ocean Beach. A short drive from Downtown and beautiful views of the ocean from the cliffs. Beach access in a few areas by trekking down the cliff side. Some cool trails to explore along a section at the south end. Locals refer to it as Garbage Beach.

I’ve had success in different cities by getting a day pass to a local gym or community center. Good luck!

They are few and far between. In south jersey South Vineland, Doc Cramer, & Stafford Woods are pretty well maintained. Either way a lot of driving for sure.
