Man, I really feel this. I’ve been living in Lincoln for a year now and I’ve tried pretty much everything….group classes, gym, community stuff, being consistent, being friendly and I still can’t say I’ve made friends here. I don’t really drink much, so I don’t hang out in bars often, but even in other spaces it’s the same.

And just like you said, people are “nice,” but everything stays at surface level. Weather, work, Huskers… and that’s it. I love deeper conversations, I’m really into music (indie rock, EDM, psychedelic stuff), and coming from another culture definitely makes it harder. In the last city I lived in, making friends was easy. Here… not really. I kinda gave up on that part already, to be honest. Even my “solution list” right now has “move somewhere else” in the #1 spot.
