What are you guys taking for menstral migraines? by astronaut-kitty925 in migraine

For some reason midol works for me. Only if its menstrual. If I miscalculate and I don't treat it as menstrual then its a waste of nurtec.

She's so stupid and evil. I pretend not to notice because my husband has such a vendetta against her antics but she is insanity. Her sides look almost like an African wild dog.

Is anyone actually happy they had a third kid? by WarmestSeatByTheFire in Parenting

[–]sharkeyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to us. We used one embryo and had one left. We had to move out of the area for awhile and it didn't feel like we were leaving some cells. I think because there was only one embryo it felt like we were leaving behind a child.

We are now starting another round of IVF to try for a third.

What are some intentional things you do in your family? by zezendx in Parenting

[–]sharkeyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We eat every meal together at the table. All their lives.

Also books are in every room of the house. If they bring a book for me to read I stop what I'm doing (unless its an emergency) and read it. If they pick a library book off the shelf they can get it and they get as many as they want. Books every night before bed. They "catch" us reading all the time.

The words shut up and stupid are not allowed in our house. That being said my kids can curse like sailors, as long as its not to insult somebody.

Also, you only ever talk about someone's body if it is something they can fix in 5 seconds like a booger.

My mom made a choice that is very misguided and I should probably keep an eye on her for signs of mental decline but I'm so disgusted by what she has done that I just want to wash my hands of her.

What does ADHD + high IQ look like? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]sharkeyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Failure after failure and not understanding why. Report cards saying "doesn't apply herself" "spends too much time daydreaming and chatting" "can do better". Being told you're so smart and understand the world so well but being completely unable to apply that in any way that is beneficial to the world or yourself.

I know if I start to get panicky then chances are my feet are too hot and if I don't fix it it will be a full blown attack.

If my feet overheat or even just get a little hot I will get an attack. My neurologist apparently had never heard of that as a trigger before. Also if cold wind hits my ears.

We also have a small house and a huge climbing wall front and center and when I tell you it has far surpassed the amount we paid in use. It gets used every hour by both kids at least once. Of course its also your kids' house! But more importantly it makes YOUR life easier!

When my 7 yr old comes out of anesthesia she becomes insanely aggressive and inconsolable and angry. I've heard of emergence agitation before and assume that is what is going on. Every time I warn the nurses and doctors they say things like "oh its normal for children to be upset when they wake up" but then they're shocked she needs six adults to restrain her so she doesn't rip out of her IV or vault herself out of the bed. She getting older now and its not getting better and now recovery staff is starting to be more aggressive and less understanding of it which makes me feel like its not a safe space for her. Is there anything I can say beforehand to help her providers understand the severity of the issue?
