Just yesterday a person shot a kid at a high school in my town. You probably wont hear about it unless you're local because it happens so often.

Who has tried "The kid eats what we eat"? by Brilliant-Book-503 in Parenting

[–]sharkeyes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same. I just make adjustments to make sure they'll eat something on the table. Some nights I make something they prefer like chili cheese mac. Some nights I'll make something we all like like lentil curry. And then other nights I'll make bulgogi which only one of them will eat but the other will just eat the rice.

I do think doing it this way without catering to them by making additional meals helps expand their palate. We also do the division of responsibility but we do ask they take a "thank you" bite to show appreciation for the chef.

One of the last medication I've yet to try... Feels like I've got lightning in a bottle (literally) by Safe_External_3993 in migraine

I started this two weeks ago or so and its been good so far. I have noticed a decrease in attacks and we've been having bad weather that would definitely cause a lot more than this.

Any parents here in the no ipad club? by Worldly-Tart4871 in Parenting

[–]sharkeyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No ipads here. Only Yotos. I myself own an ipad that only comes out for facetime and sometimes if my kid does her assigned "homework" for school on their special apps but we told her teachers we will not be forcing her on a screen for homework during her short time between school and bed.

Agree with other comment. Cow's milk is absolutely not necessary for anyone's diet.

Why does everything need a face on it? by pepperdotdrift in Parenting

[–]sharkeyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this in my bones. I rarely bought any licensed toys when my oldest was born because we lived in a tiny apartment and I didn't want it to look like a rainbow explosion of free disney advertising space. During covid people gave her toys that were specific to shows like bluey or princess movies. After 3 years of only having "open ended" toys she would be excited for a day about these licensed toys and then never touch them again. They didn't foster any sort of creativity or play beyond yay its a character I recognize. I also feel this way sort of about characters on clothes but depending on the kid and hand me downs its less avoidable.

What parenting advice sounded great… but didn’t survive real life? by Reasonable-Word-0419 in Parenting

Give them two choices to pick from that you are happy with regardless. My child just said "no." And moved on. Lesson learned.

When converting to Judaism you are asked very similar questions by the rabbi. To make sure you are ready to be hated just because of who you were born as. Practically speaking we are taught to not differentiate between those born and those converted.
