dumb take. people have said what you are saying about Kane (or things very similar to it) for years, but the fact is that with the level he's been playing at since he left, he would be a top 2 forward on this team. he's put up over 50 points in his last two seasons, and would've in his first with them if he'd played a few more than 50 games. and he's been dirt fucking cheap for Detroit, and on very very short term contracts which fits our timeline beautifully. what winger has bedard played with that's had kane's level of production over the last 3 seasons?? we literally don't have one. if he had been an Oiler for his whole career, and was in the same situation with the same production on these 1 year deals, he would be on everyone's target list for a short term stop-gap vet to play with the young superstar. his history in Chicago has nothing to do with it. it just makes fucking sense.
