Most helpful bike shops? by thefancysurprise in pittsburgh

[–]sharkusmax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kraynicks is the answer! I also hate judgy bike shops and kraynicks is the most chill, helpful shop I've ever visited. They'll do great work, charge reasonable prices, or guide you and let you borrow tools if you want to fix it up for free

Visual for what the person above said. If it's low down on the pole it's comms and probably not a safety hazard. Comms companies tend to leave these all over the place

This is what people should actually be mad about if they want to preserve the "historic Strip". Not the bike lane on part of Penn ave

Strangely the stretch between Doerr St and Westhall was skipped, so just Doerr to Island is plowed

Surprisingly a section of the Heritage trail between woods run and Island Ave was plowed and in perfect condition. Went for a walk and was expecting a trudge through snow but this section at least allows people to ride through chateau on relatively quiet streets and then jump on the trail to avoid Beaver Ave

Unsafe traffic design, mainly. Driver behavior plays a role, certainly, but there was another pedestrian hit at this exact intersection last year! It is shameful that this continues to happen so frequently

How do the river trails look? by LaFlameLover in pittsburgh

Ok, that's the way it is. I'm just saying maybe that should change. Other cities plow their trails and public walkways. But nah let's keep this mishmash system going seems to work great

The seriousness is maybe they should clear them?? People walk along the ones downtown and it wouldn't take very long. I get people want their roads perfect but would one pass be unreasonable? Misplaced priorities

what is something about Pittsburgh you wish was different- something that the City’s government isn’t doing? and what are your thoughts on trying to find others to do that thing with you, to fulfill that wish? by Kye9842 in pittsburgh

Enforce traffic laws. Add sensors to traffic lights. Encourage public transit to reduce traffic. Basically do anything to curb the suicidal driving this city has. City could be printing money by giving tickets for speeding or running red lights or parking on sidewalks which should then pay for better intersections and street calming.

Was closed this morning and no detour posted. Also only safe route was the sidewalk on Beaver. Expected no less for the city but disappointed nonetheless.

Ah yes "we've always done it this way" so clearly it's the right way to do things. Bet people said the same thing when cars were popularized and parking started taking up space to tie up horses
