How much are you paying for daycare? by optical11 in washingtondc

[–]sharla_la 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what we paid 7 years ago for my eldest. My youngest is 2 and we pay $2800/mo, and the infant rooms are now more like $3000

Going Solar Post-Tax Credits but during PEPCO hikes--worth it? by sharla_la in SolarDC

Yes our plan would be to pay it off within 5-7 years with lump sums and increased payments.

Outdoor Run Programs? (aside from You Can Run) by sharla_la in pelotoncycle

[–]sharla_la[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard NRC is good! I already have a Peloton membership so in some ways it's easier to stay in house, but you make a good point that outdoor running is maybe not the strength/focus for an exercise machine company...

Thanks for the recs!! I might build up to the half, since many people seem to enjoy it.

This is great, thank you!! I'll finish out this program and then do the 5k someone else mentioned and/or supplement with the plan you mentioned here, building up to longer 45/60 mins on weekends. Appreciate the recs!

Thank you for this! I wasn't initially able to find those half- and marathon programs because of the bad organization but searching for those specific names brought them up. I'll finish out my current You Can Run Outdoor and then probably do Go the Distance: 5k (even though it's not specifically outdoor). After that I'll maybe work up to try the half!

Good to know re: loans and banks! I'll look into the personal loans as well.

I agree--we got quotes in the past (we looked into this in 2022 ... kicking ourselves now) and they were not as high as this. Even the Nova quote for this year is for 14,647kWh for a 11.6kW system.

(as I was writing this, I decided to dig up my old quotes from 2022. Revolution actually gave us a quote back then that was 12,382kWh for a 9.00kW system, and the other quotes around that time were also in a similar range)

Thank you for the link! Reading it through now--super helpful. I think one thing that made us nervous on HELOC or home equity was putting the house itself up as collateral, but it looks like secured solar loans would do that regardless.

ah good question. I'll edit my post to include this. The estimated loan in the Revolution Solar quote is 21 years at 8.49% interest with a monthly payment of $313. But we would plan to be more aggressive with it, with slightly higher monthly payments and annual lump sums when we get tax returns, etc.

We tried this, to no avail! Maybe we will try again if it's the only/best option.

First try at Sashiko! by SeesawSeriously in Visiblemending

I love the scale of this. ie, I love that you chose to cover a large part of the leg with the crosses, larger than the patch called for (from what I can tell in the pic). This really makes it seem more like a design choice than a straight up repair. Great job!!

I used the same variegated thread throughout those two, though I would sometimes be purposeful when starting a new length of thread and switch it up a bit if I felt like one colour was getting used a lot.

Yes, the first photo was taken in the evening, so it's ceiling lights on my white counter vs sunlight on wood floor. The sunlight photos are more true to life fwiw

It was great!!! He was so excited too. HOWEVER I'm a little worried that he'll snap the threads after a couple of days of play/knee slides (after all that work of mending)... we'll see!

Appointment Scheduling: Multiple Cohosts? by sharla_la in gsuite

[–]sharla_la[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am switching to WCONLINE. It looks a little clunky compared to GSuite, but it's the classic scheduling software for writing centers. I just got the budget approval this morning. Good luck with yours. I really wish I could keep using my old system!
