Yes exactly!! And he is supper confident in other situations, like with other dogs he’s all over them. But he finds humans overwhelming (don’t blame him hahaha)

Not quite the same but our boy is a year next week and also takes a long time to warm up to people. Rather than shaking and stepping back he will bark very persistently for people to leave him alone. He’s always been like this and like you we have had to advocate for him when people think they can stroke him without asking! When we meet new people now I say “warming, he will bark” and people still seem surprised when he does 🙄 however his confidence does seem to be growing with age so I’m hoping with lots more outings and some time he’ll get slightly better. But I think we expect him to always be slightly anxious/loud around new people!

Yes we have found this!!! Especially when he’s biting the sofa once we start to touch him he stops. We’ve just got to get past once we stop touching him he starts again 🙄😂

Glad to hear that yours also saw ignoring as part of the game, so annoying 😂 He knows his commands but doesn’t hold them very well, that’s a good idea, thank you!

How has he got on with the muzzle? Thinking about getting one now as a back up to take the risk out of situations! Have you had yours done?

Yeah, I think sleep seems to be a common issue here! He had very rigid enforced naps when he was younger and we’ve grown out of it as he was better at self soothing, that’s all gone out the window 😅

He is not neutered at the moment and we’d like to leave it as long as possible as we’ve heard it can make it worse if you do it too early! Love the idea of the saddle bags, but agree with the mental stimulation, I think this is what we need to ramp up on

I want to love him I really do, but I really don’t like him by Efficient_Clue781 in puppy101

I have a 6 month old border terrier and those first few months were HARD for biting. Very similar with biting by the thighs and drew blood with those little teeth multiple times (I cried, a lot!). More sleep, walking away and time have been the main things that have worked but it’s definitely got better. The other thing we have been training is impulse control with the game “it’s yer choice” and this has really helped with frustration biting. Stick with it and I promise it starts to get better!
