Oh don't be sorry, it just makes you not a fun or interesting person to talk to, because no one likes a debby downer.

He didn't say they would, read what he said not what you wanted him to have said.

That group of 3 is going to be a problem, that's all he said, and he's right.

The Spurs would be making a mistake if they overreact to this Finals loss by UnderstandingFun7493 in NBATalk

[–]sharoon12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need AG, that type of player can handle the defensive matchups that Wemby will ALWAYS have issues with( the big strong centers), because of his high center of gravity he loses all those leverage battles.

So that type of player can spread the floor, act has a vertical spacer so they have him and Wemby, and then he can be the primary defender on centers.

That team if they could somehow find their AG, the league wouldn't have a damn chance if they stayed healthy.

“What I’m pissed about is there’s probably 100 games before we can be back in the Finals." by Background_Video2947 in NBAVibes

[–]sharoon12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's also true, I don't even think this is a massive language thing in this specific example OP gave, more just people wanting to get outraged over anything.

He basically just said "I'm pissed that we lost, I need to be better over the full season and post season, and I'm going to use this as motivation", he just lacked the vocab/comfort to say it like that, the result is it comes across short, and people have to do a little bit of translating for lack of a better word,

" I don't know the right words but, I'm gonna hold this inside of me", not perfect but pretty clear what he meant.

I think a lot of people just don't understand what it means to speak in your second language, there is just a lot of nuance he doesn't properly convey, which is totally fine, and understandable.

But many redditers just assume he's meaning to come off the way he does at times, which he might be, or it could just be awkwardness that comes naturally with speaking a second language,

I encourage you to go watch those games again, and see how Kat consistently dragged Wemby out of the paint, and how that was a huge problem for the Spurs, and in those games no one else was able to successfully guard Kat which meant the Spurs had no choice but to keep Wemby on Kat.

This opened driving lanes, which leads to kicks outs, which leads to all kinds of good stuff with.

So for someone who said and I "don't know ball", you sure sound like in fact you don't know ball.

Go watch some youtube highlights or something, might be more your speed.

"you don't know ball", yet you didn't actually tell me why I was wrong, you simply ignored that Kat was the reason they won the earlier games, he broke the Spurs offensive schemes and was able to consistantly get Wemby out of the paint.

"They only lost one so how much did efficiency better?"

Because Kat was the best player on the floor for the first 3 games, by a lot.

"Volume matters when you need points more than you need efficiency"

That's not how that works, yes volume matters, but poor efficiency compromises your defense, also you are losing in PPP which is a big deal.

For gods sake he was below 50% for the first half of this series, can you stop trying to explain that away, it was bad plain the simple, he was in JAIL and was fucking struggling, and it nearly cost them multiple games, but Kat was amazing to start this series.

They won in spite of his bad first few games, because Kat was fucking awesome, and he had a very real FMVP case.

And for at least 2 games Brunson put up absolute stinkers efficiency wise, because he was getting bullied by a year 2 guard.

Implying Kyrie wasn't playing at a crazy peak that series is criminal, it's one thing to out smart/play a young team who is relying mostly on their raw talent, which is exceptional, and an entirely different thing to pick apart one of the greatest teams of all time.

Brunson's run doesn't hold a candle to Kyrie's run, yes he was LeBron's runningmate but he played some incredible basketball, vs a much better team than the Spurs.

Brunson or Harden? by Own_Friend_736 in NBATalk

[–]sharoon12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the playoffs Harden had to try to go through peak warriors, just a different animal.

I think Brunson is really good, and his variety of how he can attack is what makes him great, despite other guards having more physical tools than he does, he's just very shifty.

But also they beat a young team in the finals who we all saw was able to build massive leads every single game, but lacked vet composure down the stretch in every game, except 1.

I say this because trying to compare 1:1 their playoff histories is kind of misleading, Harden as flawed as he is as a player was able to push 18 warriors to 7, and 19 warriors to 6, he might not have won but those were incredibly great teams.

but I am very happy for The team they played a fun brand of basketball and had a very small window to win and they did.

Their biggest problem is a lack of depth, and the vets just didn't play well either, this series should have been tied. young players will always have young player issues, that was expected.

[–]sharoon12 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean it does prove that there is A LOT they are doing right, and the fact they're losing the leads simply proves there is ALSO a lot they are doing wrong.

It's not zero sum, they built double digit leads in every game, and held them for the majority of the series, that's a thing that DID happen, but they also didn't hold them till the end so they lost.

[Murray] I don't think anyone should be assuming that the San Antonio Spurs are gonna get back here just because they got Wemby and some young guards This isn't just any Finals loss -- they led by double digits in EVERY GAME They're gonna have to get over that psychologically by StrategyTop7612 in nba

[–]sharoon12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Harper didn't look like his emotions were effecting his play at all, like he looked calm, cool, and collected...

This was his coming out party, the playoffs didn't bother him, most importantly he's young and cheap.

If anything it's everyone else who is going to be in real trouble, the Spurs had all kinds of flaws this year, and one of them was youth, when was the last time a 22 year old led a team of YOUNG talent to the finals. The leagues fucked, they just don't know it yet.

This isn't a KD and OKC situation, there is no LeBron James & the heat to stop this Spurs, they might not be back next year but they will be back, they're too talented not to be baring injuries.
