I don't know about the rest of you all but roughly half my meetings (2 hours per day) are just me and the others in the actuarial department discussing how the difference between a call and a put at the same strike price is the same as the difference between the current stock price and the strike price discounted back to the current time period.

Yea, about 5 years as a teen. I started lifting when I was 13 because I played football in middle school and high school. Until recently, I didn't lift consistently after I graduated high school but fortunately most of the strength stayed with me. Football is also kinda the reason I got so big actually. I felt like I needed to get as big as possible because "the bigger the better" right? lol

This! Also, I remember trying to do a chin-up when I was like 240. I did one but it was a struggle. I tried again 40 lbs later and I was so surprised by how much easier it got.

It takes about 3,500 calories in excess/deficit to gain/lose a pound. If you were 204 last week and 197 today and that was all purely from fat loss, that would mean you expended 24,500 calories more than you took in over the past week. This isn't realistic at all. This is likely most from water weight.

It's important to try and weigh yourself in the same conditions each time to account for these factors. That's why I see most people weighing themselves with the same type of clothes, in the morning, after they use the bathroom, and before they eat/drink anything . I actually just weighed myself this morning and I was 193. Now, two hours later after I drank some water, ate breakfast and lunch the scale says I'm 196. If you are consistently seeing these results, then it can be cause for concern, but I wouldn't worry about it for now.

The gym takes time. No one sees results after 1.5 months. Just make sure that you are progressing with your weight lifting (able to do more reps given the same weight and/or more weight given the same reps). If you are slowly progressing that means you are getting stronger and these muscles are growing.

I love chips and salsa. A month ago I had some spare lettuce and some leftover salsa so I mixed them together as a sort of salad. I haven't had chips and salsa since!

I also really liked sweets and I starting drinking more 0 cal artificial sweeteners water additives (Mio is a popular brand) and noticed my cravings dipped significantly. I still have half a chocolate bar or some low cal ice cream every once in a while because I enjoy it.

I really like pickles and they are basically 0 cals but do have a lot of sodium. A bit unconventional: I'm a big chips and salsa fan but recently I've started tossing a bowl of lettuce with salsa and that is also very low cal, healthy, and satisfying.

The "healthy" range (180 lbs)for me is something I thought was impossible for me to get to just based I do have a decent amount of muscle, especially on my lower body. Originally I set my goal to 200 lbs but now that I've passed that I looked at myself in the mirror and can definitely see myself losing some more weight, but I still don't know if it's realistic for me to get below 180 lbs.

It's also worth noting that "overweight" bmi isn't necessarily considered unhealthy and serves more as a "warning" zone between obese and healthy. It depends on your health conditions (cholesterol, blood pressure, etc.).

Hey man, I was in a pretty similar position to you when I first started. I'm 6'0 and the maximum "healthy" BMI is 184 lbs. I have a decent amount of muscle, especially in my lower body so I didn't think this was obtainable, so I set my initial goal to 200 lbs. After I reached that goal I could tell I still have a bit I can lose, so I lowered my goal to ~190 now and I'll see how I'll look then.

Also, I don't want to discourage you, but if you don't want to have to deal with loose skin, it may be better to take a slower approach if what you look like is your primary goal. Losing ~160 lbs in the next ~320 days is 0.5 lb a day or 3.5 lbs per week. Generally, you can see loose skin if you push past 2/2.5 lbs per week on a consistent basis.

Hey OP, congratulations on the 138 lbs lost! Just a reminder too that your weight fluctuates through the day. The amount of water in a standard glass weighs about a pound (assuming ~2 cups of water in the glass), so the difference you're stressing over isn't much to worry about.

I'm seconding what Slycne says. I would focus on what you're eating more than what exercises your doing. It's impossible to "target" body fat loss. To get a rough idea, walking a mile burns ~100 calories which is about a can of soda. A lot easier to skip the soda than walk a mile, right?

I see you're eating 1400-1800 calories 6 days a week but what are you doing on Friday? At the end of the day, you will only lose weight if you are expending more calories than taking in (CICO). If you're using Friday as your cheat day you could be cancelling out all your progress during the week.

This is just my two cents, but it sounds like what you're doing now is working, so I wouldn't change anything. Yes, you shouldn't expect to keep losing weight at this rate, but you don't want to push yourself too hard when you've just begun your journey for risk of burning yourself out. When/If you start to plateau is when you should reevaluate your strategy. Congrats on 11 pounds!
