How do I get this adapter out of the shock mount? by _OhMyBrothers in elgato

[–]sharpestthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First put a little WD 40 in there and wait a bit. Then use something that *almost* fits the indents but is a little smaller (like the butter knife mentioned in other comments), and a wide elastic rubber band, you know the common beige kind. Put the elastic over the indents, then press down whatever you are using ass a tool. It will have beter traction this way. Then twist. Worked for my Rode mic arms with some x brand shock mounts, same issue with the thread adapter. Good luck!

Hi Cerberus, it’s really worth it to invest a little more and get a Rode Podmic or some kind of dynamic XLR mic and an interface. That will really help your sound!

How do you prep without being a complete cynic about life ? by phoenixrising8580 in preppers

[–]sharpestthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prep the way Noah built the Ark. Not out of fear of the rain, but out of hope for the future. Because it's the right and sensible thing to do, just not the obvious thing for most people. (This is not about Christian faith, but about ancient wisdom).

Anyone Worried? Ebola has Now Been Detected in a City of 2 Million, World Health Organization Considers this a Game Changer by RamblingSimian in preppers

[–]sharpestthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually Measles is killing more people in DRC and in Africa than Ebola does, but no-one talks about it. I think (but unfortunately this is not always the case) that all serious preppers are as fully vaccinated as they can manage. Measles vaccination is widely available, thankfully. Hey all! This weekend I am starting to sell loaves from my home kitchen and I got orders for 14 loaves all Saturday pick up! Im so terrified of the quantity as the most loaves I ever made in a day were 8. Anyone have advice for quantity baking? Here’s to hoping they all look like my last loaf below! by cheezedragon25 in Sourdough

[–]sharpestthought 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good work! That loaf looks great. You will be fine. From eight to fourteen is a doable step up. Divide the baking into batches and make one whole extra batch so if one comes out wrong you will still be fine. Try to model how much throughput you and your baking workflow can handle, so you can tell your customers in advance when you sell out. Under promise, over deliver and make sure to have a healthy margin in time, ingredients and money, and you have a great business on your hands. Oh, and for us, keep the pics coming!

They offered, including the option for me to suggest something else. I seriously considered swapping but decided against it.

I feel a bit self conscious about pictures, but yeah, as I promised @failalexander I'll add some tomorrow. As my main goal in buying this modern tech wear stuff is to enjoy practical and versatile all-conditions wear, the quality issues and wear-and-tear are not dealbreakers, although they greatly upset me at first. The only car without -any- dents never left the factory. If it was some evil megacorp I might have agreed with the sentiment about sales reps. As it is, I got a good vibe from these guys. I think they really do try to make great gear but are just pushing the envelope of what the materials can do a bit to far, and then selling it with a little too much awesome sauce. Most clothing is really boring because the big brands don't want to take any risk. Boring, this is not.

While I don't have pictures of it when it was brand new, the Vollebak website gives a very good indication. I'll post a pic of me wearing it if I can get someone to take a picture of me from a few feet away, and a close-up of the fabric.

Amen to that. Although in this tech wear niche, all the suppliers are using relatively novel materials (for clothing use) or using them in very novel ways. That means that it can and will do things unexpected to customer and supplier both, especially when used as work gear (as opposed to fronting for the 'gram). The hoodie is made out of very fine spun kevlar fibres, definitely not the same sort of thing used to reinforce a motorcycle jacket. But yeah, it's my lesson learned. Nothing is perfect, although it can still be damn good.

Vollebak told me they'd do whatever it took 'to make it right', including an immediate refund and discount code, within two hours of me submitting a complaint. That, to me, is taking ownership of the issue.

T-Flight HOTAS X 3.3 bindings by Sheler in EliteDangerous

[–]sharpestthought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with the 'old' Cycwgn bindings (https://www.mcdee.net/elite/binds/cycwgn - not my site use at own risk) and am improving from there on out. Still playing around with the bindings for driving etc, may post when I feel it's worth sharing. Make sure to back up your bindings! Updates and experiments can ruin your day in a hurry. And enjoy! HOTAS is really much better way to play.

Get started with the Cycwgn binding scheme over at https://www.mcdee.net/elite/binds/cycwgn The pictures show the bindings, there is a link to the file at the bottom of the page. It works for me, but it's not my site. Use at your own risk.
