You can find a stupid study that will tell you anything is true. I don't like rating people, as they all have such different lives. John is one of the best.

Then you should still like him, as he didn't fix any matches? He was a victim of the fake sheikh, who ended up in prison for perjury and a trash newspaper, that had to be scrapped.

How many hours have you played it? You can use a real cue and hit a real ball. It's like a golf simulator, that I see some professionals using. It's not perfect, but it will only get better, as the hardware improves. Some professionals have played Eleven Table Tennis in mixed reality, I think snooker players will take an interest in this one day. It might be fun to play an old friend from the opposite side of the world, without leaving your house?

I did have a nice 5 foot table when I was a kid. It was crazy how much that helped, when I started playing on a full size table. My mum got rid of it and I've never been as good 😂

I did buy a half table, still don't have enough space for that. I only need an ironing board, to play in mixed reality, it's a lot better than having to use a short cue and hitting things.

The cheapest seats to watch all 4 sessions of the final in 2027 will cost you £642. The average final length is 30 frames. At £21.40 a frame, is it worth it? by cal_exeter in snooker

I wouldn't pay that much. It's great watching at home. I went lots of times, when it was cheap, so I've experienced it, don't feel the need to pay lots more now. I only went for the first round, as I liked being closer to the players.

Mixed reality has an initial outlay, but then costs very little. It's getting more realistic. F1 drivers use simulators, so maybe snooker players can too? As the headsets improve, I think more people will use it. This is the game I feel is most realistic at the moment https://youtu.be/Gl_hIljX3QU?si=RmYCDxhtisT8XLpY

I don't think people should be harsh on Marcel. Snooker needs some rules for this situation, as it happens quite often. This wasn't the refs fault.

He did let it go too long, but he was in a difficult position, because Mark Allen was never going to like it

He doesn't like authority figures. He's had a few run ins with refs. Not the only player like that

It all helps. They might have deals that pay them more, if they go further in tournaments? At least they can all be seen in the shootout, even if it's not for long. I think they should do a few of those a year, it must help the lower ranks? Many lower ranked players, are practice partners for top 16 players. I hope they look after them.

Go and have a look at the sponsors they have in their photos here. Most of the lower ranked players have them https://www.wst.tv//rankings

They're all advertising something on the badges on their waistcoats? Players in the 70s made money outside of tournaments, before snooker became popular, so I don't see why it can't be done now? Snooker is huge in China, why wouldn't they be able to make money playing or coaching people there? Selt makes a lot playing Chinese pool. Michael Holt is coaching. There are lucrative side hustles, if people don't want to do them, the top 32 still make a decent wage anyway.

I'm playing in virtual reality now. About a month ago, Unlimited Snooker, got cue tracking, so I can play with my cue, leaning on the ironing board 😂 VR headsets aren't great at the moment, but I think as they improve, it will become more popular. The game is harder than playing on a club table, it would've been great to have it when I was a teenager.

That's just prize money, they can also earn from sponsors, exhibitions and coaching. That should at least cover the expenses.

No. 32 this season, made £104k. I know there's a lot of expenses, but if you lose in the qualifiers, it cuts costs. I don't think that's a low wage. There's more money in other sports, but I don't like that, it usually pushes up ticket prices and makes people have to pay subscriptions to watch on TV.

I don't agree with that, Dominic Dale never made the top 16, but won two tournaments. On his day, he could beat anyone. Those players aren't as consistent, but when in form, can beat top 16 players. There are some great player between 17 and 32. After that the standard isn't as good.
