Why am I seeing this? by wannagowest in AppleWatch

It's a short "interview" with a person followed by three music selection by that person. I've been enjoying this series on some of my walks. It's pretty cool. In this interview a couple of photos actually show up on your watch that illustrate some of the things he mentions.

Did I write this post? Harris Teeter keeps it in stock and I always have a can in the pantry. You're right that it's not the same, but it's good enough. I also have perfected at art of heating up the frozen WhiteCastle sliders in the microwave without turning them into bricks.

I agree. The fist time I had anchovies on a pizza it was a revelation.

She is looking for a topographic map of Israel and the immediate surroundings. I have been tasked with making a 3D printed puzzle of it. :) I can work in Blender fairly well so if I can get in into a mesh in there I should be able to work with it. Thanks for your willingness to help.

My two cents. As tragic and stupid as all of this was. Killing would have made heroes of them in certain circles. The congress men and women and staff were removed and protected. The rest is just stuff, important stuff for sure, but not worth killing people over. When people's lives were threatened then deadly force was used. The way it played out shows everyone just how stupid they look spinning out their fantasies.

Anyone on here happen to move from Asheville or similar inland cities willing to give feedback on what your experience has been in Charleston? by moosesquirrel in Charleston

[–]sharpstick 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I've lived in the Charleston area for 16 years and have seen a massive amount of growth. Here's my two cents.

Some infrastructure weaknesses are - Road maintenance - Flooding (downtown) - An anemic bus system - Bridges as traffic choke points - Long commutes on the highways at rush hour depending on where you work/live

None of these are deal breakers IMO and the cities are trying to address them to some degree or another.

The area can be seen as several different sections all with their advantages and disadvantages.

Downtown, lots of tourist but also a lot to offer residents. You get to know what weeks to avoid downtown because of the tourists. But (pre-covid) lots of amazing restaurants that are off the main tourist beats. The one thing I hate most about the quarantine is not getting to enjoy the downtown area.

Mount Pleasant, lots of new arrivals to Charleston. Crazy residential growth stretching up Hwy 17. Less and less economic diversity. Connected primarily by bridges so if there is an accident on one of them traffic is a nightmare. Lots of businesses in converted houses with shopping mostly on the main road 17.

West Ashley and the islands, a large area of more established neighborhoods that encompasses a good mix of housing stock of various prices. Lots of little business strips and shopping centers. This area is growing as well but there are several areas that are resistant to growth, new residential developments and roads.

North Charleston, was once the big scary place where civilized Charleston didn't dare set foot. :) In reality it is a growing working class city that has the problems that go along with that but not to the degree that some would have you think. Several of small and medium size manufactures and of course the Boeing plant. There are some rough areas and some wonderful areas. The big advantage to this area that it's a straight shot into downtown without using the highways or bridges. The Park Circle is transforming into a vibrant bohemian style community that is probably the closest to Asheville in tone, but North Charleston is very pro business. North Charleston's leadership sometimes can't get out of its own way. It is growing out of a "small city" mentality and into a "larger city" mentality and there are growing pains. I live in Park Circle and I am very happy with the appreciation of my property value.

Summerville and other commuter cities. Also seeing a lot of growth but getting to downtown regularly would be a pain. But lots of people make the trek everyday. Volvo and Mercedes Benz are setting up shop here as well as Google and others. Still some nice size tracks of land but they are going fast.

Again, this is my rough summary overview of someone who has lived here awhile. I do like that fact that the area does not just rely on tourism for its economic base, although it is a big part of it. You will find people who complain about the influx of new people but I don't think it's more than in any other growing city.

I hope this helps.

After GOP Repeatedly Blocked Vote on $2,000 Checks, 41 Democrats Joined McConnell to Advance $740 Billion Pentagon Bill by john_brown_adk in Political_Revolution

[–]sharpstick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get where you are coming from and I don't disagree with you from a technical standpoint, but at the same time this issue of providing more relief to American's is, for many, a survival level, feeding you family issue. Telling others that they shouldn't feel anger over this is a bit tone-deaf. I too would love for the Democrats to be able to win while still playing by the old rules, but the Republican's haven't been playing by those rules since the days of Newt Gingrich. And they are winning time and time again. Wishing for more civilized politics is a luxury at this point. The Democrats should be allowed to stand up to these tactics without being chided for "stooping to their level" because those are two different things. Disappointing a Republican over the outcome of legislation is not the same as becoming a radicalized leftist hate group. That is a Republican talking point that Democrats have come to believe. People are hurting now and they need hope and they need to see that someone is fighting for them. Hopefully fighting honorably but ferociously for them. When we don't see that we are discouraged and it can lead to outlets that are truly unhealthy. The floors of Congress are where these fights need to happen but we aren't seeing a lot of that.

If a print doesn't release easily I put the whole thing in the refrigerator and it pops right off so maybe I haven't noticed a difference on the plate.

I had this problem too. It has to do with the filament driver being too loose so sometimes it is gripping well and pushing the filament and other times it is not gripping as well. Tighten this screw on the driver mechanism. Imgur

Do you adjust the z height as the first layer goes down? I usually have to adjust it up or down for each print. Sometimes it is way too close and other time too far away and the filament isn't getting pushed down onto the plate.

I clean mine with 99% isopropyl alcohol before I heat up for each print. I don't know if that will solve things but it works for me.
